ADDING VIDEOS TO YOUTUBE: - Options include: insert a link, insert downloaded file of the video, insert embed code of video (some versions of PowerPoint support this) INSERT LINK INTO POWERPOINT: - Type your text - Highlight text - Go to Insert -> Hyperlink and paste URL into appropriate box - Requires Internet access to work when in Slideshow mode DOWNLOADING YOUTUBE VIDEOS: - Depending on browser, search for “youtube download add-ons” - Install appropriate add-on - Use add-on to download YouTube video - A good add-on for Firefox: Easy YouTube Video Downloader INSERT DOWNLOADED FILE OF YOUTUBE VIDEO INTO POWERPOINT: - Go to Insert -> Movie and navigate to file - Insert downloaded file (FLV or MP4 work well) into PowerPoint - Inserts video with player attached, no need to navigate away from PowerPoint or use Internet POWERPOINT ALTERNATIVES: - Prezi (prezi.com) - Google Docs Presentations (docs.google.com) - Zoho Show (show.zoho.com) - 280 Slides (280slides.com) SHARING POWERPOINTS: - Slideshare.net: great for uploading, sharing, and viewing PowerPoints (as ppt or PDF files) and finding PowerPoint ideas, content, themes, etc. - Google Docs Presentations has a great presentation tool AND lets you collaborate on presentations with other users
