Predicting and envisioning the future is an extremely complex task. Neither the Internet nor mobiles were particularly foreseen by previous generations. Certainly, throughout history, people have always tried to predict the future. In the past, predictions involved visions and crystal balls, while predictions in modern society have a greater focus on models and forecasts based on scientific data. Nowadays, thanks to the latest advances in data science and digital technology, we can portray strategic futures based on more evidence and with a certain amount of plausibility and probability.
The goal in using scenarios is to reveal the dynamics of change and use these insights to reach for potential solutions to the challenges at hand. Scenarios help stakeholders to foresee how current and alternative development paths might affect these futures.
