Pacific University Teacher Education Programs What should teaching and learning look, sound and feel like in the 21st century and beyond? How can practitioners, teachers and leaders be interconnected locally and globally? These are the kinds of questions that we need to be asking as a society—and that we explore in the Pacific University College of Education. Our goal is to design learning experiences that are real-world focused, rigorous, practice-based, and personally meaningful. We pride ourselves on developing teachers and school leaders who are profoundly skilled at what they do and who are prepared to help define what the future should be. Forest Grove Campus Founded in 1849, Pacific University is among the oldest universities in the west. Pacific’s original campus is located in the center of beautiful Forest Grove, Oregon. A city of 21,000 people, Forest Grove is close to Oregon’s wine country, Hagg Lake recreation area, and is an easy drive to the Oregon coast and downtown Portland. As a College of Education student on this campus, you’ll enjoy traditional campus amenities. A highlight of this campus is the Early Learning Community. Housed in the College of Education building, Berglund Hall, the ELC is a model school for preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students.

Woodburn Campus
Established in 1992, Pacific’s campus is located in the heart of downtown Eugene. Small but vibrant, this campus fosters a closely knit learning community led by seasoned faculty who meld their research and real-life K-12 teaching into a powerful experience for students.
Opened in 2012, the Woodburn campus is located in one of the most diverse and fast-growing communities in Oregon. Commuting here is easy. We’re thirty minutes from Portland and fifteen minutes from Salem.
Programs
Woodburn campus programs are embedded in a culturally rich community where English, Spanish, and Russian are freely spoken. Our programs are closely linked to the surrounding community, and students spend a significant amount of time in local schools. The Woodburn School District is one of the most diverse in the state, with nearly 75 percent of students of Hispanic or Russian descent.

International Opportunities International opportunities include the Student Teach in New Zealand program in either the Pt England School or Tamaki College with student bodies composed of Maori and Pasifika; a two-week teaching practicum in Ecuadorian culture hosted by the Andrean Center for Latin American Studies in Quito, Ecuador; a two-week seminar on globalization led by the faculty of Egerton University in Njoro, Kenya; and a three-, nine-, or 15-week student teaching practicum experience at The International School Nido de Aguilas or Santiago College in Santiago, Chile.
