PURMO, Closer to You – Online and Offline. 2013 Retrospective 2013 meant for PURMO a major step in strengthening its brand relationship with partners and customers. Beyond informative materials, participation at important profile events or new product launches, as well as regular price promotions, PURMO exceeded the border of classical methods and channels of communication with current and potential new customers and partners, coming closer to them by launching the first free mobile application in Romanian language with and about radiators. Thus PURMO proves once again – if it was still necessary – that it has all the qualities of a European leader. Special radiators, unbeatable prices – Special prices campaigns continued in 2013, 3 campaigns dedicated to radiators took place during 2013. News in underfloor heating - PURMO launched this year on the Romanian market PexPenta, the first pipe with 5-layers simultaneously extruded, with anti-diffusion barrier in the middle of the wall, completely protected and 30 years warranty. PexPenta pipe is produced in Hewing factory from Germany, recently acquired by Rettig ICC. Other accessories for underfloor heating were launched during 2013. Local showroom, international exhibitions – Rettig SRL, technical and commercial consultant for PURMO brand in Romania opened the first PURMO showroom in Bucharest. Purmo products could be also admired during international events: ISH Frankfurt, Renexpo. Inspired managers, modern factories - Launched last year for the first time in 10 countries, Clever Magazine, the first magazine about the history and people behind a brand name, saw this year the second issue. This year PURMO partners were invited to the newly acquired Hewing factory in Germany, where PexPenta pipe is produced. Free smartphone app – This year was launched Purmo SmartBox, an App that will help you choose the right radiator for your needs. It lets you select products from catalogues, calculate radiator heat output, and find closest reseller. Positive results in a declining market – Despite the general situation on the radiators market, RETTIG

continued this year to maintain the same sales level as previous year and have positive results, with significant increases for special radiators and underfloor heating, for both Purmo Radson and Vogel & Noot brands.

Valves Automation With the increasingly stringent regulations on energy saving, in the design and implementation of thermal systems two trends became noticeable: the first is to combine different energy sources and the

second is a more efficient transport of heat, which is appropriate to the type and dates of use of each room individually. Thermal systems automation makes possible the combination of different energy sources within a system and the continuous control of heating, cooling or mixed systems. Almost all automation of thermal systems involves thermal heat flow control in installation with valves, which are often controlled using actuators. Oventrop, German manufacturer of valves and systems provides together with various types of valves the actuators required for optimal control of them, depending on the needs of the consumer it controls. In the article are presented different types of actuators provided by Oventop to its partners. The article presents “Aktor T 2P” and „Aktor T ST” electrothermal actuators, Electromotive actuators „Aktor M ST L”, „Aktor M 3P L”, „Aktor M 3P H”, „Aktor M 2P”, „Aktor M ST EIB”, „Aktor M ST LON®”, „Aktor M CON B”. Oventrop actuators, together with associated valves and control units corresponding to thermal systems offers the possibility of an accurate and appropriate control, so that the energy efficiency of buildings and facilities to be operated at the highest standards.

Bosch Steam Boiler System Cleverly Combined with Solar Heat Manufacturer of animal feed cuts energy costs by 15 per cent An increase in production capacity provided Fixkraft Futtermittel GmbH, a producer of animal feed based in the Danube port town of Enns, Austria, with the opportunity to restructure its energy supply. A system concept from plant construction company Ing. Aigner Wasser – Wärme – Umwelt GmbH in Neuhofen/Krems,

Austria was introduced. It comprises a Bosch steam boiler featuring modules for increased efficiency combined with a solar thermal system. With the new energy supply, Fixkraft is able to reduce its CO2emissions by around 85 tons per year and make energy cost savings of approximately 15 per cent compared against the old system. The Universal UL-S steam boiler from Bosch with an output of 2,500 kg/h provides the process heat required to produce the animal feed. The saturated steam is introduced directly into the product, meaning that the amount of condensate that is returned is very low. A solar

thermal system with an installed collector area of 320 m² is used to help preheat the feed water. The fresh water needed is taken from the company's own well, treated and then supplied to a 6,000-litre heat storage tank. The solar collectors absorb the sun's energy and pass it on to the water in the heat storage tank via a heat exchanger. The WSM-V water service module deaerates the make-up water. It is heated to 103 °C. The gases contained in the water dissolve and leave the deaeration system with a small quantity of steam, known as exhaust vapour. The VC vapour cooler uses the thermal energy contained in the exhaust vapour and feeds it back to the water service module. Heating-up steam is saved and the energy efficiency of the system increased. The feed water itself is heated further in the economiser, reducing the flue gas temperature of the boiler. In order to make additional use of the flue gas condensate, a condensing heat exchanger made of stainless steel is installed downstream of the economiser. The makeup water preheated by solar heat absorbs the condensation heat before it is supplied to the feed water tank via the exhaust vapour heat exchanger and deaerator dome. The boiler equipment also includes the lowemission natural gas firing system with oxygen control. This continually measures the oxygen content in the flue gas and controls the air supply accordingly. Modern touchscreen controls with a teleservice connection enable the system to be operated reliably and based on individual requirements. Thanks to the use of solar energy and heat recovery facilities, Fixkraft benefits from a highly efficient and environmentally-friendly steam supply. Energy use is reduced and efficiency increased.
