You wrap your arms around her; she wraps her arms around you. She presses her head to your chest, your hands fall to her waist. One rests upon her head, lightly messaging her scalp. You can feel her quiet and slow breathes as she nuzzles further into your grasp. You can tell she doesn’t want to leave, but remain with you for an eternity to come. Her head lifts slightly, her eyes locking onto yours, her lips part to form a smile. You can feel her heartbeat beating rhythmically with yours as she leans forward. On instinct you lean downward, anxiously pressing your lips to hers. Just as they touch you feel her pulse leap, become rapid, as if she were entranced. Time seemed to have stood still, minutes felt like hours and hours felt like days. Her eyes begin to close, as did yours, as if you were in flawless sync. But a small feeling begins to control you, a feeling of dread Her skin becomes icy to the touch, your eyes launching open to see no change in figure. Her eyes locked upon yours with a tear leaking down her cheeks. Almost as if she were nothing more than a whisper in the wind, she’s gone. Leaving nothing more than a tombstone in her place. You suddenly remember everything when you were told the powerful feeling of rage. You had a pulse but she seemed to have been buried with it. Leaving you nothing more than a shell, searching for its missing pieces, desperate for a second chance. Grade 11 Burgard High School
