Melvin Nash NASH, Melvin Linwood Sr., 88, of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, January 18, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clarice “Chunky” Dowdy Nash; son, Melvin L. Nash Jr. and wife, Lisa; five grandsons, Reid, Brayden, Tyler, Aaron and Levi Nash; a granddaughter, Colby Nash; many sisters-in-law, brothersin-law, nephews and nieces. Mr. Nash retired from Philip Morris with 41 years of service and was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II. SPARKS, Ruth Ann Campbell, 88, of Mechanicsville, ascended into heaven, Sunday, January 19, 2014. Among those awaiting her is her beloved husband, Isaac Ralph Sparks; son, Ralph Steven Sparks; her sister, parents, and many relatives and friends. Ruth was born in East Tennessee in 1925. She married her high school sweetheart in 1945, and they eventually made their way to Richmond to raise their three children. ROBBINS, Jim, 79, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 6, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife, Gwen; sons, Ray, Rod and Don; daughters, Karen and Patti; sister, Faye; brothers, Ted and Frank; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Jim loved life and cherished his family. Jim was a retired carpenter, home builder, and U.S. Air Force veteran, who made his home in Gray, Ga. A service was held in Gray on Sunday, Jan. 12, followed by an interment service on Jan. 13, at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fla. A memorial service that celebrated his life was held at Calvary Chapel, 7193A Stonewall Pkwy., in Mechanicsville, on Jan. 25.
