Jacquelin Smith Sampson , If there was ever a woman who

embraced life and all its blessings, then Jacquelin Smith Sampson emulates all that defines courage, sacrifice, family, life, and love. As a lover of the water and the sport of fishing, Jackie knew a person would never catch much of anything standing on the bank. In fishing as in life, there’s a thrill to the anticipated catch. She hooked herself five grand citations: She was a faithful wife to her beloved husband, Jim, for 34 years; she was a devoted mother to her two dear daughters, Casey (Sampson) Bass, Melissa Sampson, and her son-in-law, Troy Bass; and she was an affectionate grandmother to her precious granddaughter, Raegan Abigail Bass. Regardless that Jackie fought a 20-year battle with cancer, she still remained optimistic, hopeful, and was always willing to cast her line out there and aim for what she wanted - a full restoration of her health. Our Jackie always put another hook on the line and got it back into the water; she had a will to win - a will to live - and refused to give in to defeat. Amongst family and friends in the comfort of her home on Saturday morning, June 30, 2012, this amazing woman, Jacquelin Smith Sampson, age 55, became one of God’s angels. Jackie was born July 25, 1956 in Richmond, Virginia, and she was a Hanover County girl all her life. She graduated from Lee-Davis High School in 1974, and she had successful careers in both the nursing and real estate industries.

Survivors include her parents, Arthur Smith (Pansy) and Dorothy Wade; and siblings, Jeff Smith, Tammy Vincent (Nicholas), Michele Lempke (Ted); motherin-law, Corine Sampson; and several other adoring relatives. She was preceded in death by her younger brother and best friend, Jimi Smith; and her father-inlaw, Hugh Sampson Sr. Relatives and friends are welcome at 8356 Raven Run Drive, Mechanicsville, Virginia 23111 on Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. for a Celebration of Life. Special thanks to her sisters, Tammy Vincent and Michele Lempke, to her sisterin-laws, Deb Cousins and Kathy Smith, and a dear family friend, Rachel Snoddy, for their help and support during Jackie’s transition from this beautiful life to her eternal life. Watching the river flowing so perfectly, so purposefully onward toward its ultimate destination can remind us all that we’re all headed somewhere - to Jackie’s heavenly paradise where she can listen to the birds and be in the spirits of the angels. Jackie now flows with ease, onward toward her individual paradise.
