In honor of Dr. Suess 108th birthday, Stonewall Jackson Middle School will be performing the “Seussical” on March 30 and 31. Tickets are $5 and proceeds will go to the Drama Department. Storyteller coming to HAAC The Hanover Arts & Activities Center at 500 S. Center St. in Ashland, in partnership with The Ashland Community Theater Foundation and AARP, is sponsoring a three-part series entitled “Black History in Story, Film and Dance” with free family-friendly events in February, March and May. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, storyteller Dylan Pritchett will focus on African and
African-American stories. Other free events in the series include a showing of Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16, at the Ashland Firehouse Theater and a performance by Ezibu Muntu African Dance Group at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, at the Center. Over the next years, 10 updated versions of the map were issued. Williams will present those maps as well as additional early Virginia maps.
