La Fin de notre amour The End of Our Love / El fin de nuestro amor
El fin del amor no suele ser, por lo general, agradable; aquí particularmente es desgarrador, violento y cortante (y no de manera figurada), aunque también haya poesía en estas imágenes. En La Fin de notre amour hay dos cuerpos, objetos cortantes, dolor provocado y recibido, malestar por la ausencia y por la compañía, cerebros esparcidos por el piso. Y más dolor, como corresponde al amor cuando termina. En éste, uno de los primeros cortometrajes de la dupla Cattet-Forzani, aparecen en un formato más experimental algunas de las imágenes e ideas que alimentan sus futuros trabajos. The end of a love affair is generally an unpleasant process. Here, it is especially heartbreaking, violent and painful (literally), in spite of the poetic images. In La Fin de notre amour there are two bodies, sharp objects, felt and inflicted pain, distress caused by the absence and the presence, and brains splattered all over the floor. And more pain, as is fit and proper when love dies. This short film, one of the first directed by the duo Cattet-Forzani, features some of the images and ideas that will appear in their later work, but in a more experimental format.

Santos Palace
Santos Palace es un café de Bélgica. Allí, una moza atiende a un extraño cliente. Las miradas se cruzan, pasan los minutos, hay una historia de amor que parece no empezar o haber empezado ya, con sus posibilidades de celos, de pasión o de que nunca se concrete; otra de las formas del romance. Las sensaciones de mirar y ser mirado, el montaje rítmico, el uso del cinemascope para volver abstractos objetos y espacios, la preponderancia de los planos detalle: todas obsesiones, formas e ideas audiovisuales que terminan de explotar en la sorprendente Amer. Santos Palace is a coffee shop in Belgium. There, a waitress serves a strange client. Their eyes meet, minutes pass and we seem to witness a love story that hasn’t began or may have already started, with its potential jealousies and passions, or which may never happen at all; another type of romance. The feeling of seeing or being seen, the rhythmical editing, the use of cinemascope to make objects and spaces appear as abstract forms, the predominance of detailed shots: these are all obsessions, forms and audiovisual ideas that explode in this surprising film.
