DEAR FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS, Dear friends and supporters, The mission of Metropolitan Community College is to deliver relevant, student-centered education to a diverse community of learners. The Foundation serves as the College’s philanthropic partner in fulfilling this important mission. This annual report highlights how your generosity has fueled our partnership’s success, and serves as an important intersection of past achievements and future milestones.

Randy Schmailzl

Scott Irwin

For the last 45 years, MCC has proudly provided education and training in Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties. In that time, the College has grown from a small vocational school with 260 graduates to a comprehensive community college serving more than 25,000 credit students annually in career education and four-year transfer programs, along with a rich array of community education offerings for lifelong learners. We owe our success to your interest, support and partnership. Reflecting with appreciation. Reflecting on the transformational success of the recent Fort Omaha Campus expansion, MCC is now delivering new and expanded offerings and services it could only imagine just a short time ago. Who could have imagined that we would be training on virtual reality in one building, while students and faculty were constructing a house in the building next door . . . or that we would be providing personalized navigation supports to students in one building, while assembling an airplane across the way? While we are pleased with all the progress you can read about here, MCC seeks to continually strengthen its offerings and impact.

Advancing toward the future. Regardless of the career field, today’s high-tech workforce requires advanced skills beyond high school. Businesses need skilled workers and workers need the skills for workforce success. To bridge these needs, MCC relies on trusted business partners to tell us what “preparation” means for each industry—they review curriculum, offer internships, invest in scholarships and equipment, and ultimately, hire our graduates. This past year, for example, MCC partnered with EPI-USA to respond to greater Omaha’s burgeoning need for advanced data center training. Today, MCC stands proudly as the EPI national training center for the United States, benefiting students and businesses in the four-county area and beyond. Your support helps us build a stronger workforce through education. A difference in our community. Turning to the future, we are eagerly anticipating completion of our South Omaha Campus expansion project, including a new Automotive Training Center, as well as renovation of an existing structure to house a new Center for Advanced Manufacturing and a comprehensive Veterans Center. Like our other significant capital projects, this expansion was made possible by a 50:50 publicprivate partnership, including generous donations from the business and philanthropic community. These facilities are inspiring faculty, students, staff and our community to learn more, engage more and achieve more. Because of your investment, we are re-envisioning the way we do business, deliver education and change lives. This report reflects not just data points, but the individual lives you have impacted for the better. Thank you. Sincerely, Randy Schmailzl Scott Irwin College president MCC Foundation president
