BRUSHING UP Dental assisting students educate youngsters about oral health

“ s it true you get cavities if you kiss someone?” asked an eager third-grader. Dental assisting students Joleen Foster and Alexandra Aguilar anticipated such silly questions as they were practicing their presentation, a community service project for their Nutrition and Preventative Dentistry class. Each spring, students in instructor Cindy Cronick’s class visit area grade schools and speak to youngsters about oral health. The community service project not only educates the children, but it also allows dental assisting students to teach concepts they learn in the program. This year, students presented to about 180 second, third and fourth grade students.
