The 1931 Circle: Partners in Giving The 1931 Circle was established to honor Mayfield Junior School’s founding year and recognize the generosity of donors who have made a leadership-level gift to the school. Members of the 1931 Circle provide substantial financial support and make a significant impact on our ability to fulfill our Holy Child mission. Mayfield’s 2nd annual Blue and White Day of Giving was held May 19, 2023. This digital campaign encouraged alumni to contribute to the Annual Fund to support either the Blue Team (odd grad years) or the White Team (even grad years). The competition was fierce as donors responded to email messages and challenges on social media, all while current MJS students participated in the relay, tug-of-war, and other events for Blue and White Day on Spirit Field.

In the end, the White Team showed the most Mustang spirit and won, supporting programs that inspire future students as they learn, play, grow and pray together.
1970s
This was our second year hosting a day of giving, and we saw growth in the number of donors and dollars raised. We are already looking forward to the next Blue and White Day of Giving on May 31, 2024.

The Alumni Council has embraced the motto of “Actions not Words” by building connections across our alumni and school communities. Mahalo Mayfield: A Night in Old Hawaii Mayfield parents, alumni, and friends enjoyed a tropical evening on May 6 for the 2023 Benefit, Mahalo Mayfield: A Night in Old Hawaii. The West Pavilion and Spirit Field were transformed with lush foliage and bright florals; a huge tiki bar served up Mayfield Mai Tais while the smooth sounds of ukulele drifted across campus. Benefit co-chairs Kelley Terrazas ’95 and Marie Levenick and their event committee, including Décor Chair Brigid Brahos ’78, brought the aloha spirit to the Mayfield community during an otherwise rainy spring. The 420 guests in attendance wore sundresses and chinos, and many sported our limited edition Reyn Spooner X Mayfield collaboration polo shirt. Each year, the Benefit raises funds for Mayfield’s Endowment and a Paddle Raise supports a special, designated cause. The event raised more than $175,000 for Endowment and in addition, donors raised their paddles to give over $80,000 to the Gill Fund for Professional Development to support faculty and staff training and continued education. Unique to this year’s Benefit was the official announcement of Learning Elevated: The Campaign for the Whole Child. This much anticipated plan to develop the Mayfield campus was unveiled with a beautiful video presentation followed by sparklers and a champagne toast led by Head of School Joe Sciuto and Campaign Chair Brad King.

Giving to Mayfield Junior School Each year, donors provide the additional resources needed to maintain Mayfield’s excellent programs. These generous contributions from our community also allow the school to plan and execute upgrades to our facilities and curriculum to “meet the wants of the age” through the years. We are grateful!
Mayfield Junior School accepts many kinds of gifts, including:
• Cash Current cash gifts are deductible for income tax purposes to the full extend allowed by law and may be made with cash, check, or credit card.
• Appreciated Securities A gift of appreciated stock or other capital assets can result in significant tax savings. You may be able to obtain a tax deduction for the full market value of the gift and avoid paying tax on the gain.
• Matching Gifts Many employers will match employees’ donations, increasing the impact of a single gift and providing an additional source of income for Mayfield Junior School. Inquire with your Human Resources Department if your employer matches charitable gifts.
• Qualified Charitable Distributions Donors who are 70 ½ or older can direct an IRA distribution directly to Mayfield. For those 72 or older who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to give while reducing one’s taxable income.

• Memorial or Honorary Gifts A contribution in honor or memory of a loved one can be a cherished gift to an individual or family. Our Holy Child sisters, faculty and staff, and students remember these special intentions in prayer at school Mass.
• Planned Gifts Mayfield accepts planned or estate gifts of life insurance, charitable trusts, bequests, or real estate. A donor may wish to consider these gift vehicles as a way to reduce or avoid estate and inheritance taxes while making a larger impact for Mayfield. Those who choose to direct a planned gift are welcomed into the Euclid Society of donors.
