15° INTERNATIONAL GARDEN FESTIVAL JARDINS DE MÈTIS 2014

EDITION (Q U E B EC-C A N A DA)

COLORING FROM THE OUTER SPACE

It has been a free theme competition about innovative gardens. The constraints imposed by the commission reguarded the maximum surface available for the garden, limits to the possibility to perform excavations (due to the piezometric level of St. Lawrence’s creek) and to the budget also.

As a team we were wondering:

What if the primary colors black and white world?

(red yellow blue)

came from the space carried by falling stars on a

Meteors, that could be one of the most catastrophic events for the human beings and for the earth itself...Spreading just for once life and beauty instead of destruction and darkness. After the impact with the earth surface, color begin to propagate starting from the vegetal life forms that will bloom in red, yellow and blue around the respective crater. Star fragments, scattered in the area, are still incandescent and reflect the light, others will glow of red, in the dark night. A message that aims to remind that not always what comes from the outside will be dangerous and actually could be precious, giving a new color to everything’s around us.
