Jason DRURY

ASSISTANT STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH

Evan COACHMAN

Now in his eighth season at Northwestern State, Jason Drury was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in 2012 after the retirement of long-time trainer Ed Evans. Drury joined the sports medicine staff at Northwestern State University in the summer of 2005 after being the head athletic trainer at Natchitoches Central for five years. In the spring of 2009, Drury took over as the head football athletic trainer for the Demons, after working for three seasons with the women’s soccer team and one season with men’s basketball team. A 1999 graduate of Idaho State University in biology, Drury worked with numerous sports in Pocatello, Idaho including football, men’s basketball and track and field. Drury earned his master’s degree in sports administration from Northwestern State in 2001, during which time he worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the NSU softball team. Drury is a native of Paoli, Indiana. He and his wife, Toni, have been married for nine years. They have two children, Maddox and Kenzie.

Coachman was a football and strength & conditioning coach for 17 months at his alma mater, where he developed all-conference players at tight end and wide receiver. He developed and managed the in-season workouts for the football team. From 2009-2012, he was also an assistant strength & conditioning coordinator for Athlete’s Performance Course in Allen, Texas, where he developed workout routines for baseball, softball, football and volleyball competitors ages 10-18, and ran workouts for up to 50 athletes simultaneously. Coachman is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and by USA Weighlifting. At Austin College from 2007-10, Coachman played receiver and free safety. He was a preseason All-American as a senior. He was all-conference at receiver as a sophomore, then at free safety as a junior and senior. He was elected to the Leadership Council by his peers. At Frisco High School, he had a 3.3 GPA and was an all-district football player in his last two seasons. Coachman had a 3.5 GPA in graduate school at Austin College, earning his master’s in education. As an undergraduate, he earned a bachelor’s in history and was secretary ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER and vice president of Phi Sigma Alpha fraternity.

Leslie OGLESBY

Leslie Oglesby is in his third season at Northwestern State and first as assistant athletic trainer. A native of Reform, Alabama and a graduate of South Lamar High School, Oglesby graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of Alabama in May 2010. While at Alabama, he worked with the Crimson Tide baseball, football, and women’s basketball teams as well as area high school athletics at Tuscaloosa County High School. In the summer of 2009, he did an athletic training internship with the Xenia Scouts of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate Baseball League. At NSU, he’s working on getting his master’s degree in science and health promotion. Born on February 21, 1988, Leslie is the son of Jeff and Donna Oglesby and he has an older brother, Joey. Leslie was married to the former Anna-Kate Sisson on June 11, 2011. HEAD STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH

Joey GUARASCIO

Guarascio arrived at NSU August, 2012 as a graduate assistant and was universally praised for his dynamic impact with baseball, softball, football, soccer and volleyball. He designed and implemented weightlifting, plyometric and speed programs and worked extensively with football. He began to serve an internship on the strength and conditioning staff at LSU when NSU’s position opened. In the summer of 2011, he was a strength and conditioning intern at Florida Atlantic, where he worked with football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. He was assistant wrestling coach from 2009-11 at Naples (Fla.) High School and coached three state meet qualifiers and a district champion. In the summer of 2010, he worked at Velocity Sports Performance in Naples, where he coached pro football players along with NCAA Division I competitors in football, baseball, soccer, volleyball and basketball. He is a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach for USA Weightlifting and is a certified strength and conditioning coach by the National Strength Coaches Association. Guarascio was recommended by Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame member and NSU alumnus Coach Gayle Hatch, the head coach of the 2004 USA Olympic Men’s Weightlifting Team, and LSU strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt. Guarascio played for the 2009 NAIA national champion football team at Sioux Falls and the 2010 NAIA runner-up. He was a first-team all-conference player in 2008 at College of the Canyons. In high school, he was the Collier County Defensive MVP, allconference and all-district at Gulf Coast High School in Naples. He and wife Heather were married June 23, 2012. He graduated from Sioux Falls with an exercise science degree as a Dean’s List (3.2 GPA) student.
