hank you for the honor to be your Guild President for the next 2 years. During this time, we will continue our efforts, working together to raise needed funds for the Museum of Arts & Sciences, the Charles and Linda Williams Children’s Museum, and our new shining star, the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art.

Please call the Chairs and volunteer your time.

There is much to be done in the next several months. We need your help with the Halifax Art Festival and the Festival of Trees. It takes a village to make these Guild events successful.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our first meeting on Tuesday, September 8th, at 10:00 a.m.

I thank all of you who have joined together and worked tirelessly on each event and committee over the past year. It’s time to join together again for the fun and fun-raising. Let’s see what we can do to make this year the best year ever!

We have Something to Talk About (and yes, it is the day after Labor day) Meet with old friends and make new ones too. This is a great opportunity to see what is in store for our Guild members. Sign up to help during our three main eventsHalifax Art Festival, Festival of Trees, and the Children’s Museum Golf Classic. Your talents and smiles are welcome and needed to help with our many committees and other events. Plan to attend, have fun and possibly win one of the door prizes. Don’t forget to bring a friend.

September 30 10:30 a.m. Artful Interlude - The Life and Light of Old Florida

Meet at 10:30 am for a special curated tour of the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. Explore the history of the Lighthouse, with plenty of time to scale the steps to the top or just shop in the gift store. At 12:30 pm we will head over for a wonderful lunch at one of Florida’s old fish camps, Down The Hatch Seafood Restaurant. Dr. Roberta Smith Favis, Professor Emerita of Art History and Curator of the Vera Bluemner Kouba Collection,at Stetson University will discuss “The Ponce de Leon Studios in St. Augustine: Artists and Salons in Florida’s Gilded Age”

January 21 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Artful Interlude Trip to St. Augustine for Legacy Tour of Flagler College and Light Refreshments at Cafe Alcatraz in the Lightner Museum Leave MOAS at 1 pm and go by bus to St. Augustine. Documentary filmmaker Eric Breitenbach and art educator Kathy Maloney will discuss their documentary “A Certain Magic Wand”. This 22 minute film examines the role of arts in elementary school education. Eric is the senior professor in the School of Photography of the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies at Daytona State College

March 22 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Artful Interlude - A Day in Deland and Tour the Stetson Mansion

Arrive in Deland by 10 am and begin the day with a tour of the STETSON MANSION. This is Florida’s largest, most opulent historic home built in 1886 by famed hat maker and philanthropist John B. Stetson. This private estate, his winter retreat, was the only richly detailed “Gilded Age”estate built in Florida at that time. Come and “Play for our Kids” at our 6th Annual Children’s Museum Golf Classic. 2015 Festival of Trees

M

ark your calendars and please join us for the 2015 Festival of Trees and Gala. The large designer trees will be up for viewing and bidding from November 11th through December 3rd. Admission is free to museum members and included in the price of a day pass. The Gala will be on Thursday, November 19th from 6-9 pm. Enjoy complimentary champagne, live music, and gourmet food from over 20 local restaurants. With the new west wing expansion, the evening will be something to behold this year. Reservations are $45 per person.
