Letter From the E.D. end and it’s then that they find a way to move on with their lives. It is then that participants realize what a tremendous release crying is and that their feelings are justified. But most importantly, they learn that their tears should be utilized for healing.

Alejandra was molested as a child. She felt betrayed by her mother when after telling her what had happened she didn’t believe her. After that moment she felt unloved by her mother, a feeling she was unable to overcome.

WInC is a safe place to go to when you’re feeling hurt and you need to pour out your feelings. We don’t hold you back. We let you go and vent.

She suffered as she made her way to the U.S. as a young woman. Alone she bared the hardships of survival as an undocumented young woman. She tried to live her life as normal as possible but the reality was that her past trauma had left her broken. She was unable to sustain any relationships with the opposite sex. She felt she didn’t have capacity to love or trust anyone.

The rain of tears must come before the rainbow can come out. Crying out loud,

When she found out she was pregnant she had resigned herself to raise the child on her own. Out of common courtesy she let the man know about the pregnancy. He offered to marry her. She was rather hesitant but somehow he convinced her to marry him. Their lives together was not easy as he was undocumented too and had a drinking problem. When he got arrested for a DWI they lost their only car. She was so upset that she left her husband as she refused to raise the bond money to have him released. She decided he needed a lesson, one that served him well. If anyone had grounds for complaining Alejandra definitely did. She cried a lot. Her cries were heartbreaking. But somehow it was those tears that would get her through. Each time after a good crying session she felt cleansed. At WInC all of us at one time or another have had a good crying session. Crying somehow helps lessen and release the pain. For those that are worried about being overheard, we find a quiet and private space in the building. We know the importance of being able to let go of those tears….to release the pain. We encourage our participants to cry long and loud for them to feel relief. Sometimes some of them worry that if they start crying, they won’t be able to stop. But eventually the tears do

U.S.-Mexico Relations American way of life.

Leaders of various organizations from El Paso and Southern NM gathered at the Mexican Consulate in El Paso for a meeting with the Ambassador of Mexico to the United States Eduardo Medina Mora.



The discussion was focused on issues related to improving the lives of Mexicans living in Mexico and Mexicans living abroad. After basic introductions the two Advisors from CCIME, Dr. Alberto Miguel Correa-Alvarez and Mary Carter presented their issues to the Ambassador.

Dessiminating information to the community in reference to available resources for Mexicans to start micro-enterprises or small businesses so that they can get themselves out of poverty and become the authors of their own lives.



And lastly, finding ways to educate Mexicans living abroad on the rules, policies and laws of the U.S. or finding credible organizations that will help them. There are many individuals that cannot defend themselves through certain processes because they don’t know the rules of the game. And if they don’t know the rules of the game they are always going to lose. This also includes the creation of effective community leaders with full understanding of the rules, policies and laws of the land for them to effectively create the change needed to improve the lives of their peers. This includes creating effective political leaders so that they can sit at the table as a representative for the needs of their brothers and sisters. Carter emphasized that if they’re not at the table they’re on the menú.

Dr. Correa-Alvarez presented on the project he and his team had been working in reference to economic development loans for Mexicans through a federal agency. He requested facilitation from the Mexican government for the process. Mary Carter, Executive Director of WInC, presented issues impacting Southern New Mexico such as: 





Finding a way to help educated Mexicans to secure jobs in their given fields instead of being forced to take menial jobs to survive. She gave special emphasis to the area of health given the fact that the area lacks the required medical professionals to take care of the residents in the area.

Ambassador Medina-Mora took notes of the issues and concerns of the CCIME Advisors and then made a brief presentation about his work before opening the discussion.

Ensure that the Mexican Consulate has enough funding to expand their services to Southern NM with emphasis on the rural communities that lack public transportation.

The Ambassador closed out the session by informing everyone that he was going to follow up on all the issues that were presented to him.

Finding more ways to connect Mexicans to their roots, specially our children for them to learn the cultura and the values that are so often lost during the assimilation to the

Everyone at the table felt honored to have been in his presence and his friendly demeanor.

What others say about us... Terry Miller 8-4-13 It's taken me much too long to thank you for the opportunity you gave the CRF last Saturday. You made it possible for us to give away 930 books to the children and families who came to pick up their backpacks and that's not counting the books we left with you. And, because of you, we made a great connection with Meca Therapies. It was an incredible morning. You have always been so generous with your time, ideas and opening the Women's Intercultural Center to us. We are grateful to you. Impressive! We have over 40 people attending the 32hour Intensive Domestic Violence Training.

Easy as 1, 2… Fabulous Through Luzelva Muñoz’ instruction, participants experience how easy cake decorating can be with the Wilton Method and show the world how fabulous they really are.
