CAREER DESCRIPTION As an Accounting Assistant or Clerk you will monitor detailed account transactions, compile and interpret numerical data for reports and update accounts and files for accuracy and information. You have the option to work for major companies, small businesses, trade establishments, manufacturing

firms, banks, real estate agencies and accounting firms. If you choose employment with a small company, you may experience a wide range of responsibilities. Employment with a larger organization will allow for more specialized job opportunities like those of an Accountant. As an Accountant you can specialize in taxes, consulting, budgeting, auditing or forensic accounting.

Management Accountants record and analyze financial data. Government Accountants maintain the records of government agencies. Earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting along with additional educational requirements will allow you to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure exam. CPAs work in the public or private sector and many are self-employed.
