Ticket includes a Key West-themed lunch and book signing. Thanks to Berea College and Central Bank for their generous sponsorship of this event! About Southernmost: After a flood that washes away much of a small Tennessee town, evangelical preacher Asher Sharp offers shelter to two gay men. About hillbilly: Since our country’s inception, there has been a palpable divide between Urban and Rural America. Within this great divide, certain regions are viewed as “other,” and blamed for America’s social ills. hillbilly goes on a personal and political journey into the heart of the Appalachian coalfields, exploring the role of media representation in the creation of the iconic American “hillbilly,” and examining the social, cultural, and political underpinnings of this infamous stereotype.

JEREME ZIMMERMAN

Brew Beer Like a Yeti Most modern beers are brewed to accentuate a single ingredient —hops. This ingredient takes a backseat in Brew Beer Like a Yeti. Instead, herbs, spices, and even wild-foraged botanicals are highlighted. Traditional beer-brewing techniques, history, and storytelling provide context for the recipes, and key ingredients are discussed in depth. Jereme Zimmerman is a writer and fermentation revivalist who lives in Berea. He writes for various magazines, and travels nationwide to present on topics such as fermentation, natural and holistic homebrewing, modern homesteading, and sustainable living.
