PARENTS’ INVOLVEMENT IN SCHOOL LIFE

Parents, together with the school principal, teachers and students, are responsible for the children’s complete development, education and achievement. The main aim of our school is to produce more teaching-learning effectiveness and to improve educational opportunities for all the children. For these reasons, our school is always trying to do its best in order to respond to parents’ needs with:  flexible and creative program activities to enhance the parents’ active involvement in school activities  regular cooperation Parent-teacher

Parents in our school sign an “agreement” where they accept:  To recognize the educational function of the school,  To educate their children by giving importance to a good education, to the respect of others  To take an active part in the school activities and in the school-family meetings  To guarantee the children’s regular attendance at school  To give support to the children’s school/homework


IN EVERY SECTIONS NURSERY,PRIMARY AND JUNIOR SECONDARY

CLASSE every month, there are parent-teacher meetings at school where 3 or 4 elected representative parents are invited to discuss about the general situation of the class: behavior, social relationship, programs, school activities and visits

 COLLOQUI INDIVIDUALI

during the week, there are individual meetings with teachers. Parents have important perspectives on their children and can provide the teacher with information about their children's relationships, interests, and experiences outside of the school. Teachers, on the other end, give them information on the children’s progress and on the programs.

teachers to talk about the progress of their children in every sabjects

ď‚— CONSIGLIO DI ISTITUTO or CDI/School Council meets every 2 months.

A parent is the president and with the other elected members (together with the principal, elected teachers, secretaries and janitors) are involved in making decisions about important issues: the annual plan of education P.O.F. (to be accepted and approved) the purchase and renovation of school facilities; annual calendar and school timetable; the planning of school and extracurricular activities, projects and school trips; general criteria for the formation of classes


SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ď‚— In Nursery School, families: parents and grandparents,

are actively involved in activities: they teach how to cook or make biscuits, they tell or read stories, they play games together, they help in the organization of markets, parties, celebrations and festivities.

In Secondary school ď‚— In general, parents are

more interested in meetings dealing with educational concerns or personal growth and development rather than in taking active part in activities, also because they say they have no time or energy.

School also organizes special courses for foreign parents, to help them communicate in Italian; general meetings on some important topics such as drug and bullying at school; information sessions on employment opportunities for students leaving Secondary Jr. school; Parents are asked to fill in questionnaires in order to give their opinion on how school works and an important feedback on the activities
