Strategic Priority 1:

CATHOLIC IDENTITY AND MISSION

Strategic Priority 1 outlines Marist Catholic College Penshurst’s priorities as a Catholic school founded on faith in Jesus Christ. Integral to this is the lived expression of the charism of Saint Marcellin Champagnat. Underpinned by the Archbishop’s Charter priority is given to enriching the Religious Education Curriculum and its role in the spiritual and academic formation of students and staff. The school is committed to engagement with the mission and expression of the Church through liturgical celebration,

“The Marist Catholic College Penshurst Ministry Program is designed to give our College Community the best opportunity to engage and live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Its outcome may not be measured during the students’ College life. Strategic Priority 2:

LEARNING AND TEACHING

Strategic Priority 2 outlines Marist Catholic College Penshurst’s priorities for maintaining a strong and deliberate focus on the development of teacher quality as well as the continual improvement and commitment to a professional learning community. There is a continued focus on integrating literacy and numeracy across the curriculum and provide opportunity for acceptance of diversity, connectedness to the wider world and the empowerment of students. The implementation of the Australian curriculum and related pedagogical change is seen as an opportunity for improving student learning outcomes. The intrinsic relationship between student wellbeing, pastoral care and student learning is fostered across the school community.

Strategic Priority 3:

STUDENT AND STAFF WELLBEING

Strategic Priority 3 outlines Marist Catholic College Penshurst’s priorities for the development of a shared understanding and commitment to the enhancement of student and staff wellbeing. Wellbeing is both central to learning and an outcome of learning. It is multidimensional and characterised by feeling well and functioning well. Student resilience and wellbeing are understood as essential for social development and this is optimised by the provision of safe, supportive and respectful learning environments for students in settings characterised by trust, respect and confidence. Confident, resilient community members with a capacity for emotional intelligence perform better academically and are better able to maintain healthy relationships and responsible lifestyles.


Strategic Priority 4:

CAPACITY BUILDING

Strategic Priority 4 outlines Marist Catholic College Penshurst’s commitment to building a professional team of highly competent teachers and school leaders. The prevailing culture is one of collaborative working relationships and mutual responsibility for student learning and achievement. Staff are committed to pursuing professional learning and school leaders actively promote and support professional learning aligned with the school’s strategic priorities.

Strategic Priority 5: STEWARDSHIP OF RESOURCES Strategic Priority 5 outlines Marist Catholic College Penshurst’s priorities for long-term sustainability through responsible strategic thinking, planning and acting in collaborative partnership with Sydney Catholic Schools. Sustainable provision of ICT infrastructure, hardware and software ensures ICT deployment is optimised in terms of reliability, accessibility, adaptability and security across the learning and administrative environments. Environmental stewardship is understood as a spiritual, moral and financial imperative, and sustainable approaches are actively pursued.

1.1 Engagement of the Youth in the life of the Church. 1.2 Seek opportunities to further connect with Parish Priests of feeder schools.

2. LEARNING AND TEACHING

2.1 Consolidation of a shared understanding of the Vision for Learning. 2.2 Embed the use of data to inform teaching practice and learning growth. 2.3 Development and implementation of enhanced approaches to quality assessment.

3. STUDENT AND STAFF WELLBEING

3.1 Establishment of processes to clearly align student wellbeing and learning.

4. CAPACITY BUILDING

4.1 Increase the professional capacity of staff in the use of Google classroom to enhance student learning. 4.2 Further develop whole-school approaches to the explicit teaching of literacy.

5. STEWARDSHIP OF RESOURCES

5.1 Continuation of planning for the realisation the Master Plan in the expansion of the College.

The four pedagogical principles that underpin the Vision for Learning are: Foster a deep love of learning; Celebrate and work hard together; Engage in critical and creative thinking; Nurture all members of our community. These principles will guide and inform the teaching and learning experiences at Marist Catholic College Penshurst.
