IHOWĀ

There are so many voices telling you that you aren’t good enough. It could be something you hear, see or read online, you might hear it from people close to you, or it may just be a voice in your own head.

But here’s the truth:

E AROHA ANA TE IHOWĀ KI A KOE GOD LOVES YOU And it’s not just that He aroha you, He also made you on purpose. There is no one else in the whole wide universe who can do exactly what Ihowā made you to do. Even if you are an identical twin, you are an individual and you have been made motuhake by Ihowā. Never forget how much aroha Ihowā has for you!

3

If you feel like no one sees you, or like no one cares about you, or like you don’t matter, know this:

YOU MATTER! Ihowā made you, He knows you and HE AROHA YOU!! You can be really pouri when it feels like no one cares about you, but that is never true. Ihowā cares about you so very much. We all feel alone sometimes, but the truth is no one will ever aroha you the way that your loving Creator does. Ihowā doesn’t care what you look like. It doesn’t matter how nui or iti you are, how cool your clothes are, or what colour your skin is because

E AROHA ANA TE IHOWĀ KI A KOE GOD LOVES YOU People may care about what you look like on the outside, but Ihowā cares about your manawa. It’s what’s on the inside that counts. We should never judge others based on what they look like.

Because I am motuhake to IHOWĀ I can be glad I am ME!!

Did you know that Ihowā aroha you just as you are?

IHOWĀ

It’s true. There’s nothing you can do to earn or lose His aroha.

He aroha you no matter what! Some people have a hard time believing that Ihowā could ever aroha them. They think they are too kino for Ihowā to aroha. But that’s never true! However, the aroha Ihowā has for us does not mean that He is happy with everything we do. We all sin and sin separates us from Ihowā. Sin is anything we do, say or think that goes against what Ihowā would want us to do. All sin has consequences, and the greatest consequence (penalty) is it separates us from Ihowā Ihowā is perfect, holy and pai. No sin can be near Him. So, when we sin, whether it’s a “nui” sin like murder or a “iti” sin like telling a lie, we are separated from Ihowā. No matter how many pai things we do, we cannot remove sin from ourselves. We need Ihowā to save us. And that’s exactly what He did!

7

People often think they have to earn aroha and forgiveness from Ihowā, but that’s not how it works. The penalty of our sin is death, and we all sin. Ihowā shows us how much He aroha us in that while we were still sinners, He sent His tama, Ihu Karaiti, to die in our place. Ihu Karaiti didn’t die for us because we deserved it. He died for us because He aroha us. Ihowā is just – that means that what is right and wrong is very important to Him. But He also shows mercy, and instead of giving us the punishment for our sin, Ihu Karaiti chose to take our punishment even though He had never done anything wrong. It might feel like you have messed up too much for Ihowā to forgive you, but the truth is …

there is nothing you can do that is bigger than the aroha Ihowā has for you. Ihowā is kind and merciful and wants to share His koha of grace with you. Ihowā always forgives.

8

You can’t hide from Ihowā. But when you come to Him with your sin and ask for His forgiveness, He will always forgive you. It doesn’t matter how bad your sin is. Sin is sin, and we all need to be forgiven. Ihowā is waiting for you with open arms.

Ihu Karaiti didn’t die for perfect people, He died for YOU! He didn’t die for you because you were “good enough”, He died for you because you weren’t. If you ask for forgiveness and believe Ihu Karaiti can save you from your sin, He will. While Ihowā will accept you as you are, He also wants to help you live a life for Him and to make you holy, like He is. Ihowā never says that sin is OK, but He sent His tama to die in our place so that we can become what we were always meant to be.

9

HE AROHA TE IHOWĀ GOD IS LOVE E aroha ana te Ihowā ki ahau. God loves me. His aroha is bigger and better than any aroha I can know because He aroha te Ihowā. God is love. His aroha is eternal and His faithfulness to His tamariki lasts forever.

10

HE WATCHES OVER YOU

“Kei te mohio hoki ahau ki nga whakaaro e whakaaro nei ahau ki a koutou, e ai ta Ihowā, he whakaaro mo te rongo mau, ehara mo te kino, kia hoatu te tumanako ki a koutou i o koutou ra whakamutunga.” Heremaia 29:11 “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. They are plans for peace and not disaster. Plans to give you a future filled with hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 Remember this verse if you ever feel alone or scared. Ihowā always knows where you are, and He watches over you.
