2011 KORUS FESTIVAL 이미 지역 미국인들이 가장 붐비는shopping center인 Fairfax 코너 장소로 옮기게 되면서 이제는 코러스 축제가 미주류 사회와 더욱 밀접해 질 수 있는 기회가 되었다. 그간 아난 데일 중심K 마트에서 행사를 치루면서 한인밀집 지역 앞 마당이라는 Comfort Zone으로부터 벗어나는 용감한 시도 일 수 도 있겠지만 우리 문화를 이제 원정으로 알림과 동시 에 타문화를 공유하는데 있어서 더없이 좋은 도약의 장이 될 수 있을거라는 기대감은 더욱 높아졌다.
으로 스며든지 적지않은 세월이 흘렀다. 그러면서 이곳 미 주에서도 새로운 뿌리를 내린 한류문화. 이제 미국계 아시 안들에게도 서로 공유되며 스스로 장성해 가는 모습으로 형성이 되어 왔다. 한류문화를 선도하는 한국계2세 리더 들을 주축으로 Kollaboration 이라는비영리 Entertainment 단체가 LA를 시발점으로 처음으로 그탄생을 알렸고 이미 DC를 포함한 미전역16개 도시에서 매년 대회를 개최하며 아시안 아메리칸을 중심으로 한류문화의 세컨드 제네레이 션을 이어가는 기염을 토해내고 있다. 이미 이 코러스 패스티벌은 한국의 축제 의미도 있지만 KOREA 와 Kollaboration 대회를 통해 주류사회에 유명 아티스트들과 US의 합성어 코러스 패스티발이니만큼 한국과 미국이 하 퍼포어머들을 배출해 내었으며 지금 왕성히 활동하고 있는 나되는 디딤돌 역할의 의미가 더 크다고 볼 수 있다. 퍼포어머들을 이번 코러스 축제에 대거 투입했다. 장소의 변화와 함께 발맞추어 공연진들의 변화도 시도해 이번 코러스 축제에서 멋진 공연을 선보일 몇 Music Artist 보았다. 코러스 페스티발은 그간 한국 공연진들의 초대에 를 소개하려고 한다. 더욱 무거운 비중을 두었던 것은 사실이다. 코러스 페스티 발이 벌써 아홉돌을 맞는 동안에 한류문화 역시 전세계적

Lumi Lumi 는 필리핀 이민 가정의 삼남매중 막내로 워 싱톤에서 태어난 토박이이다.독학으로 기타를 배웠으며 케네디 센터와 콘스티튜션 홀에서 공 연의 경험이 있다. 오페라와 브로드웨이 음원으 로부터 힙합 과 R&B, 팝과 가스펠에 이르는 다양 한 음원을 구사할줄 안다. ‘No Illusion’이라는 여 성 보컬 그룹에 있었던 루미는 현재 ‘Renowned Urban Nation H.I.P-H.O.P Choir’의 리드 보컬리 스트로 15년의 경험을 바탕을 둔 베테랑 가수이 다. 지금도 계속 워싱턴 무대에서 활동하고 있는 Lumi는 2003년에는 Bob Hope’s Christmas HolidayTour 공연팀과 합류 이라크 쿠웨이트 아 프가스탄과 우즈베키스탄에 파견되어 있는 부대 순회공연 경험, 근래에는 펜타곤에서 오바마 대 통령과 빌 클린턴 전대통령 앞에서 무대를 선보 였으며 Camden Yard 에서 미국국가 제창을 비롯 해 MTV의 ‘Rock the Vote’ 프로그램에 출연했으 며 현재 스튜디오에서 데뷰 앨범을 착수중에 있 으며 Youtube 에 그녀의 퍼포어먼스를 항시 볼 수 있다.
Lumi is a native Washingtonian and the youngest of three of Filipino immigrants. With over 15 years of experience, she is an accomplished singer, self-taught guitarist and SESAC songwriter. Whether performing at The Kennedy Center or

Constitution Hall, Lumi captures your attention with her ability to flow seamlessly from opera and Broadway favorites to hip-hop, R&B, pop and gospel. Lumi is currently a lead vocalist with The Renowned Urban Nation H.I.P. –H.O.P. Choir and a former member of the all female vocal group No Illusion. Although Lumi can be seen performing locally at major venues, she has also performed for the U. S. Troops in December 2003 with the USO Bob Hope’s Christmas Holiday Tour of Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. Lumi has performed before President Obama, Bill Clinton and at the Pentagon. She has performed the National Anthem at the Camden Yards, the Verizon Center, the Naval Academy, during numerous halftime shows, and was featured at MTV’s Rock the Vote. Lumi began her singing and dance career at an early age with her church choir and received formal dance lessons. She has trained and danced with DC-based hip-hop dance companies – GLOW, Urban Moves and Culture Shock. Lumi is currently in the studio working on her debut project and is in process of planning for future promotional performances. She is rapidly generating quite a buzz but will never stop posting YouTube videos from her bedroom.

Rooftop Pursuit
Currently, Rooftop Pursuit resides in Washington, DC. With two new music videos in the works, the band is busy preparing for a new EP to be released in the winter.
2010년에 DC에서 결성된 Rooftop Pursuit 밴드는 싱어송라이터 Phil Good과 드러머 Jason Yi, 기타에 Paul Lee가 구성원으로 있으며독특하게 R&B/ 소울의 색깔이 담겨있는모던 팝 락을 최초로 소개한 밴드이다. Kollaboration Chicago에서 우승한 경 험을토대로 뉴욕의 Arlene’s Grocery 에서부터 뉴욕 메츠 시티필드, 워싱턴 DC의 케네디센터 그리고LA 까지 라 이브 무대 영역을 넓히며 짧은 기간 동안 눈부신 활약을 해왔다. Yellow Boyz Yellow Boyz는 아틀란타에서는 이미 주류사회에 너무나 알려진 힙합그룹으로 이미 미국의 Three 6 Mafia, Soulja Boy 힙합그룹과 순회공연을 한바 있으며 뉴욕의 Rock The Bells Festival 을 비롯 미 국 라디오에서도 여러번 소개가 되었으며 아틀 란타에서는 최초의 힙합 아시안 그룹일 뿐만 아 니라 남부에서 새로이 뜨는 베스트 뉴 랩퍼로 인 정받고 있다. 현재 www.worldstarhiphop.com에 정기적으로 소개되고 있으며 Yellow Boyz 가 실 린 이 웹사이트는 이미 통합 1300만번의 조회수 를 기록하고 있다. 지난 8월 한국에서 미국의 아 메리칸 아이돌이라고 할 수 있는 Superstar K에 출연해 현재까지 돌풍을 일으키고 있다. 한국팬 들의 영역도 넓혀가고 있으며 곧 있을 Asian Hip Hop Summit 10주년 기념행사를 통해서 전 미국 에 알려질 것이다.
이례적으로 이번 코러스 패스티발에서는가요제와 탈렌 트쇼의 참가자들을 제외하고도 서른팀을 훌쩍 넘는 퍼 모머들이 준비되어 있다. America’s Got Talent 에서 Semi Final 까지 올라가는 기염을 토한 West Springfield Dance Team(WSDT)의 무대가 토요일 오전 11시에 있을 예정이 며 이미 전세계적으로 잘 알려진 Shen Yun퍼포먼스도 일 요일에 마련되어 있으며 이외 각양각색의 퍼포머들이 관 중객의 귀와 눈을 즐겁게 해줄 것이다. 워싱턴 포스트를 비롯한 미 언론들 뿐만 아니라 인도네시아 TV 방송에서 는 이미 취재와 연예인과의 인터뷰를 요청한 상황인 것을 감안하면 이번의 축제가 그 어느때보다 더욱 비상한 조 명을 받고 있음에는 틀림없다. 코러스 축제가 한국을 알 리는 멋진 경기라고 본다면 애난데일에 자리했던 지금까 지의 홈경기를 떠나 북버지아 문화의 메카 페어팩스 코너 로 옮기면서 부로 불러들이지 않아도 절로 모여들 미국

인과 타민족 관객의 눈과 귀를 감안한다면 이번 코러스 패스티발이야말로 한인축제를 넘어서 미 주류사회와 더 불어 우리문화를 비롯 다문화를 하나로 이어주는 축복의 통로가 되는 그야말로 진정한 KOREA US 의 ‘한미축 제’의 원정 경기가 될 것이다. 더욱이 한미 FTA 가 체결 되면서 그 어느때보다 돈독한두 나라의 관계가 된 이 시 점에 페어펙스 코너의 원정경기에서만큼은 우리 지역 동 포한인 모두 이제 그저 바라보는 관중으로서가 아니라 우 리문화 알리미 선수로서의 적극적인 참여가 있을때 더욱 빛나는 한류를 미국땅의 세계인에게 알림과 동시에 우리 의 2세와 3세 대대로 물려줄 수 있는 넉넉한 계기가 될 것 이다.

Performers Profile 서순희-Asian American Art Center 이 무용단을 이끌고 있는 서순희 원장은 20여 년 동안 워싱턴 DC 일원에서 공연과 무용 지도를 통해 한 국 전통 문화 보급에 앞장서고 있다. 서 원장은 84년 로 스앤젤레스 올림픽, 96년 애틀랜타 올림픽 개막 공연 에 참여하는 등 75개국에서 초청 공연을 가진 바 있다.
Asu Rock Asu Rock is also known as one of the premier DJ / Promoters that has helped push Asian Pop Culture and music into the U.S. market. Mentally Unstable (B Boys) Mentally Unstable, formerly known as Crispy Essence, was established in 2010 by Mario Ballesteros and Brian Dykeman from Northern Virginia. Some of the more noticable events include: Mentally Unstable vs Supernaturalz at Circles 12, Mentally Unstable vs. Repstyles in Philidelphia, and first place in the KORUS festival talent show in 2010. The crew has continued to refine its skills in the dance. Each individual expresses an extraordinary style created through long hours of hard work and dedication. Through our hard work we have gained recognition as one of the best bboy crews in Virginia.

Performers Profile MIGRANT HERITAGE COMMISSION’S FILAM DANCE ENSEMBLE A performing arts ensemble of talented youth and adults from various Fil-Am groups for high profile cultural events in the U.S. capital region and neighboring states, such as the National Cherry Blossoms Festival, Asia Heritage Foundation’s FIESTA ASIA, Asian Festival, KORUS Festival, Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Dance DC Festival, Dance Asia, International Migrant Heritage Festival and America’s National Independence Day Parade . The group is under the artistic direction of MHC’s Co-Executive Director and Phil.Embassy's former Cultural Officer/Attache' Grace Valera-Jaramillo and Managing Director Antonio Calaro with Mr. Jesse A. Gatchalian as Production Director assisted by Matthew Aninzo and other MHC Envoys. The performers bring the vibrant, exotic and diverse cultures of the Philippines in institutions like the Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Institution, the Philippine Embassy etc.
징검다리 청소년국악팀 징검다리는 MD 볼티모어에 소재 한 사랑의 교회에서 2003 년 우리의가락과 춤사위를 바탕으로 하나님의 사랑과 한국문화의 우수성을 널 리알리고자 6명의 한인2세들로 창단되었습니다. 현재15명의 단원들로 매년MD 한인의 날 행사와 크고작은 커뮤니티 봉사를활발 하게 진행하며 꿈을 가꾸어 가는 팀입니다.
Tiger Den TPC Tiger Den, established since 1996, is an organization that offers taekwondo instruction and other programs primarily for children but also for adults. Led by Grand Master Sang G. Kim, Tiger Den has 7 locations across Loudoun and Fairfax Counties, including two of the largest TKD studios in Northern Virginia. TPC has participated in a number of taekwondo performances as well as competitions. For the past two consecutive years the team has placed 1st at George Mason University’s President’s Cup. And more recently in Greensboro, NC, at the 5th Yong-In University Presidential Cup International Taekwondo Championship, TPC placed 3rd out of Fifteen teams.

Performers Profile Washington Sorichung Eun Su Kim was born and raised in 1981 in Suwon-si, Korea. She began singing early and commenced serious training upon entering Korean Culture middle school and high school. Her p’ansori teacher is Kim, Young-Ja, one of the human cultural assets in Korean traditional singing. She graduated Seoul Art University in 2004. Eunsu was an intern and guest performer in the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts and the National Theater of Korea and performed on a national scale. She came to United States 2007 and is currently studying ethnic music in NOVA college. She is the founder and the director of the Washington Sorichung (http:// www.washingtonsorichung.com/) and has performed in Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian, the Library of Congress, the Korean Embassy, Korean Ambassador’s house, and many others. Her goal is to spread Korean traditional music and culture to the international community and collaborate with musicians from other traditions.
이희경한국무용단/Korean Cultural Arts Foundation The Foundation will use the beauty of the art to develop and strengthen bonds between the two nations. It is believed that the art forms themselves will transcend the limitations of language and expose the heart of all Koreans to the American public. These traditional performances are a part of Korea’s living history and have been preserved for posterity by rigid adherence to standards for reproducing work as it passed by artists of one generation to the standard bearer artists of the next generation. www.kacaf.org
