means you experience, you feel, you fail, you hurt, you fall. But, you keep going.
From the desk of The President
Dear Leaders, We, the humans, are quite resilient creatures. If it hadn't been like that, we would have been become extinct a long time ago. Whether we are facing a family issue, an illness, a problem at work or troubles in our relationships, we manage to somehow find it in ourselves to face the problem, to understand the situation, to overcome it and to come out as a winner on the other side of the issue. It is not always easy. it takes a lot of courage, understanding of the problem and change in attitude to realise that we can overcome that hurdle, that there must be solution to the problem and that if we put all our efforts into finding a solution or looking at the problem from a different angle, we can solve it. Resilience is also what pushes people to strive for more, to want more and to achieve more. In Toastmasters, it could be the resilience that pushes you to finish a CC or an advanced manual. It could be that drive that motivates you to take up a role on the Excom and serve the club, the area, the division and even the district in the next term. 2

From the desk of The President The resilience is the force that drives you to get on that stage and deliver a speech or give a table topics comment in front of 250 people. It is the feeling that makes you realize that you can do whatever your mind sets out to do and whatever your heart is telling you is the right thing to do. So, dear members, be resilient in times of challenges, life obstacles and hurdles because if the resilience is there, you will be able to come out a better person on the other side of the issue. Biljana Davceva President July to December 2018

Repeat after me : my current situation is not my final destination.
Sometimes in life, you feel like a puppet on a string, as if you do not have any control. You are pulled in so many directions that you do not know which way to go. At times, it may feel that you are stuck, stagnant and unable to move. It may all seem hopeless but you have to have faith. One thing you have to remember is that the bad times are not going to last forever but if you want more great times ahead of you instead of just good times, it is time to start doing things that will make that a reality‌ it’s time to work toward your ideal destination. My life is never going to change unless I change and take the first step. Motivational speakers talk endlessly on this subject and I roll my eyes, but I have to realize that it is only up to me and me alone to make a concerted effort to snap out of my lethargy before it is too late.

There is so much that I have yet to accomplish. It may seem like a pipe dream but I know I can. I know deep down in my heart that I have not reached my destination as yet. My journey is still ongoing, struggling but moving forward. She stood in the storm, and when the wind did not blow her way, she adjusted her sails. by TM Azza Bakai Anyone who saw me when I was a child would say without hesitation that I am a sweet little girl and a gift from Heaven for my parents. The bitter truth was opposite to their expectations.
My childhood was full of memorable and weird times not only for me, but for the whole family. I can still remember when my cousin and I were four years old and kept with our grandmother at her house alone while our parents had a lovely and enjoyable time with their friends. It was bedtime and our grandmother was happy that she had successfully accomplished her task of making us fall asleep. At least that is what she thought‌ we were fully awake thinking and planning to reach our target in having our grandmother treasure box which was located above a high cabinet. You see Toastmasters was running in my blood even back then. I was responsible for distributing roles, my cousin would keep a look out from the keyhole of the door while I was responsible for building a creative ladder utilising all the facilities inside the room such as the table, chairs and small boxes under the bed.
19
I placed them all above each other and tried to climb them. Unfortunately, while my fingers was just about to touch our treasure, I lost my balance and fell down on the floor with a loud crash. Crying, screaming and panicking all these gestures were enough for my cousin to cry, go rashly and call our grandma to come and see all the troubles waiting for the whole family. She panicked, shouted and called our parents to take me to the nearest hospital. I felt that it took forever to reach the hospital, as long as the time spent reading a boring book. I thought that I would either experience my mother’s love which is shoes or my father’s love which is the stick …where I would either be punished by the shoes or the stick… but thank God, that none were used. Due to that treasure hunt, I was not able to use my broken arm for a whole month. This coincidence was a clear message for my parents to be aware of my inner power and for me to never build my judging on the external image. Friends, remember to follow the road to your treasure box which is whatever that make you happy and satisfied with yourself. Also, never judge the book by its cover; you might miss out all the magic waiting under that cover.

by DTM Claire M. Cogrove Let me tell you what characteristics are not favourable in an individual. And how do I know these, because many of these are my characteristics. Maybe they are also some characteristics that you share also. Procrastination is the thief of time. It is so easy to think I am not ready, I am not prepared, I cannot commit. But have a task – do it. Complete it promptly. Tick it off the list. The expression is that tomorrow may never come. Reality is we may not see out the rest of the day. Do not delay – take action. Indecision is the thief of opportunity. And a close companion of procrastination. Nothing is more expensive than a missed opportunity. That that is what happens when I cannot decide. Do not delay- decide. Self-Judgement is the thief of self worth. It is so simple to compare my efforts with those of others. Yet we are very different personalities with different capabilities, etc. Remember to be kind to yourself. You are one of God’s creations. Therefore, you are a masterpiece. 22
November-December 2018
Do not judge - accept Over thinking is the thief of real value. By dwelling on and pondering over, I am merely creating problems that do not exist. Be realistic – all that I can control is myself, my actions, my thoughts.
Do not ponder – learn to let go. Envy is the thief of worth. Envy never gets me anything nor gets me anywhere. By being envious, I am nurturing the art of counting my neighbour’s blessings while not realizing my own blessings. I need to focus on my own blessings and realize just how blessed I truly am. My creator excels at blessing me each and every day. Do not envy – count own blessings. Scarcity mindset is the thief of peace of mind and the trigger for greed. Our world, our environment is a natural storehouse of riches for all humanity. If I am a good steward and encourage others to be likewise, we will not run short of resources. So let the idea of abundance for all dominate your thinking and your action.
= 23
Do not create a mindset of poverty – realize what are my needs vs my wants. Victimhood is the thief of self-worth. I cannot enjoy the limitless supply of blessings if I fear that I am a victim ((of whatever).
Do not be a victim – rise up. I have a choice. I need to stand up with confidence and surety and claim victory in life. I am charged to be who I was born to be. I will not let these characteristics or attitudes take control of me. It is my choice. I chose to control my mind, my thinking, my attitudes, my behavior, my happiness and my destiny.
