I WANNA ROCK! Went out to LO FI Café to watch some local bands this past weekend, but man it was more than just a show. Loss of Existence rocked the house!! Straps were broken, heads were banging and Jager was the drink of choice. Plus who wouldn’t want to see a 67 year old Female Bass Player!! The band consists of Jerry Darling - Song Writer/Guitar Player, Ed Smith - Lead Singer, Shawn Durrant - Guitar Player, Harriet Degeregory - Bass Player and Ryan Desmarais on the drums. Jerry Darling was born in Providence, RI. He grew up in Rhode Island, Florida, and New Mexico. As a kid Jerry saw Ace Frehley and knew rock and roll guitar was it. He moved on from air guitar at 16 and has never looked back.

He moved to Salt Lake City in the spring of 1989 after attempting a couple of bands in New Mexico, starting The Opposable Thumb in 1993 and led to its demise in 2004, having a fair run at local success and minimal success. One of the highlights of his career was playing at the 2002 Olympics at Bud World. He began LOE in 2004 as a fun/refocus project, playing sporadically until about 2012. Finally after finding the music again and with a solid line up, he was ready to ROCK THE WORLD. Edward (Ed) Smith is from Utica New York, and has been involved in music for over 15 years. He was one of the founders of LOE, previously working as a sound engineer, promotions, and stage manager. As well he has worked
on a TV show for local music. Shawn Durrant is from Utah, and has been playing for 30 years. He has been in many bands including Louder Than Love, The Opposable Thumb, and then helped start Meat and many more. But now has found his home with LOE. Harriet Degeregory is originally from Santa Cruz California, and has been playing guitar for 35 years, but has only been playing bass for 7. She is 67 years old! She has one daughter and 2 grandchildren, and has always been interested in music. LOE is the only band that she has ever been in! Plus she knows how to ROCK! Now let’s not forget Ryan Desmarais on the Drums! He is from Utah. He started messing around on drums when he was 18 years old. His first band
