I had decorated the front door with pink balloons to welcome you home. As the clock struck five and the door opened, I gazed into your sparkling brown eyes, My Beautiful Red Girl, it was love at first sight. My heart was all yours. You existed to please us and made us proud beyond belief. You brought our family great love and joy, just shy of 11 years. I know this statement is selfish but it was not nearly long enough. We did it all together 24/7. We ventured down roads that said “no dogs allowed.” We were persistent and with your personality and charm, we were made welcome. Remember the day we took you to the car dealership, the salesman just knew by the way we walked through the door, no sale would occur unless you could try out the back seat and you did. At my wedding the guests anticipated your arrival more than mine. You strutted down that aisle better than I, and you looked Gorgeous. You were a great ambassador of the breed, My Belle. You shined and I was proud to be your shadow. You are now my angel and I miss you so much. Every day I reflect on wonderful memories of you. I am so thankful that you were “born to be with me” My Raquelabelle, forever in my heart, I will love you always, Mom Jaquie A Special Thank You To Jim and Nancy Barrett, Raquel’s breeders, for their friendship and support. It seems the Judges caught the same FEVER because Cindy showed OZ only 8 times and got 5 major wins including 2 at specialties. FROM THE PUBLISHER Wow, so many new AKC titles in 2012! Dobermans are taking full advantage, particularly in the performance venues. My first exposure to dog shows was with an unregistered Dobe who I acquired from my neighbor, Odin was just too much dog for them. As it turned out, without some serious obedience training he was too much dog for anyone. We had lots of fun showing at matches, but I lacked the time and dedication to take it to the next level. I have some serious admiration for the owners who can put alphabet soup behind their dog’s name. Thanks to AKC they will be able to add even more and their dogs can continue to be challenged to work! We’ve already begun working on the April Stud Dog Issue with featured breeder Jim Briley, Dobes of Aquarius. Jim has such a long and successful history in the breed, this will be a feature we can all learn from. Our featured stud dogs are from the past: Dandy, Ch. Darwin’s Dance of the Hour WAC and for the present: Miles, Ch. Wyndem’s Knights Quest. For the history buffs out there — it will be back! I have access to huge collection of old magazines, some dating back to the 40s and 50s. Before Anne Lanier died she gave me reprint permission for all of her magazines. The resources are endless. For the Stud Dog Issue I have chosen to reprint the 1976 Top Dobe article on Ch. Delegate V.D. Elbe, at the time the top producing sire in the breed. It’s a wonderful article and a great tribute to one the breed’s greats. Lastly, I would like to address the rumor mill. We are not going out of business. Perhaps this is just wishful hoping for some. Nancy is here to serve all your advertising needs and I am here to continue to deliver the highest quality in design, editorial and printing. ‘Til next time....
