Tesoro recuperado _ Recovered treasure
R Italia ha recuperado 5.631 piezas arqueológicas robadas en los últimos años por traficantes de arte y puestas a la venta en el mercado internacional. Todas están ahora expuestas en el museo romano de las Termas de Diocleciano y alcanzan un valor de 50 millones de euros, lo que la convierte en la mayor restitución de bienes artísticos de la historia. Para reunir todo el botín, los carabineros recorrieron galerías privadas de todo el mundo, así como museos de Estados Unidos, Alemania, Japón, Australia y Reino Unido. Los dos únicos detenidos en la operación, sin embargo, están en libertad, pues los delitos de los que se les acusa han prescrito. R The state of Italy has recovered 5,631 archaeological pieces, stolen in recent years by thieves and put onto the international market by dealers. These are now on display at the National Roman Museum in the Baths of Diocletian. Together they are worth around 50 million Euros, making the collection the largest restitution of artistic heritage in history. To recover the works, Italian police scoured private galleries around the world, as well as museums in the United States, Germany, Japan, Australia and the United Kingdom. However, the two people detained in the operation are at liberty, since the crimes of which they were accused have now expired.

estudiantes de secundaria repartidos entre cuarenta centros educativos de toda España a petición del Centro de Regulación Genómica de Barcelona. El objetivo es recoger muestras de saliva de todos ellos para llevar a cabo un estudio sobre microbios que pretende determinar si hay similitudes en bacterias y hongos y si el microbioma de la flora bucal está influenciado por el medio ambiente y el estilo de vida. Otro de los propósitos que se marcan los investigadores de este estudio es encontrar marcadores en la saliva que sirvan como método de diagnóstico para algunas enfermedades. R This will be done by 2,000 secondary pupils from 40 schools around Spain, at the request of the Genome Regulation Centre in Barcelona. The aim is to take saliva samples from them all in order to carry out a study into microbes. The scientists will be examining the range of bacteria and funguses, and seeing whether oral microorganisms are influenced by a person’s environment and lifestyle. Another of the goals set by the researchers for this study is to find markers in the saliva that might help diagnose certain diseases.

De cárcel a centro de arte _ From prison to art centre
R La prisión que había en el distrito malagueño Cruz de Humilladero tiene futuro. El
Ayuntamiento ha decidido convertir la antigua cárcel en un centro de creación artística, cuya primera fase estará acabada pronto y permitirá a artistas de todas las disciplinas usar las instalaciones como taller. La segunda parte del proyecto contempla hacer obras y acondicionar determinadas salas como laboratorios, estudios, salas de reuniones y de proyecciones para que, además de crear, se pueda mostrar el trabajo realizado y celebrar eventos culturales. Sitio no les faltará, pues la antigua cárcel ocupa un total de 14.000 metros cuadrados destinados ahora a promocionar la cultura. R A prison building located in the Malagan district of Cruz de Humilladero has a new future. The City Council has decided to convert the former gaol into a centre for artistic creation. Its first phase, which will allow artists working in a range of disciplines to use the facilities as a workshop, is nearing completion. The second part of the project will fit out rooms as laboratories, studios, meeting rooms and audiovisual rooms. There will also be spaces for exhibiting work and holding cultural events. One thing the project is not short of is surface area, since the former prison has an area of 14,000 square metres, now being given over to cultural activities.
