Cotton offers a nice balance between strength and affordability. It stretches more easily than linen, allowing for a tighter stretch with less strain. Because it’s not as inherently strong as linen, when working with large canvas sizes, choosing a heavy-weight cotton is preferred. All our cotton canvases are unbleached and coated with acid-free acrylic grounds sutiable for use with oil, acrylic and other painting media. Gallery profile canvases offer additional support for large sizes to prevent warping. Canvas sizes with a dimension of 24" or longer are braced for additional support.

CANVAS TIPS & TRICKS Canvas and wood are natural materials which will move and adjust over time in reaction to environmental changes such temperature and moisture. Thinner, lighter weight materials are more susceptible and even very wet or thick washes of paint can be enough to cause a reaction in the canvas. It’s therefore important to choose the right surface for your project and painting style. No matter what type of canvas you choose, here are some tips to help keep your canvas in good condition over time:

• Do not store stretched canvas in a garage, shed, or other nontemperature-controlled space. Even in your house, hang or store it away from outside walls. • Store canvas vertically. Canvases leaning at an angle against a wall could eventually warp. Storing canvas horizontally will cause it to sag.
