GoinG back in time … Many things were quite difficult for the family. It was the time of World War II so there wasn’t a lot of water or food. The family only had about 10 cm of water in their baths and everyone got a small amount of food every week. When the programme finished, the family were all thin, healthy and fit, but some of them immediately ate fast food!

A

few years ago, there was an interesting TV programme in Britain. The programme makers wanted to show people what life was like in Britain in the 1940s. So they asked a family to move into a 1940s-style house and live as people did during that time. The family was a mother and father, their daughter and her two young sons. They all had to wear old-fashioned clothes and change their hairstyles. They didn’t have a TV so at night they played card games or read books. They listened to the radio, but only for one hour every night. They didn’t have a phone and, of course, there weren’t any mobile phones or computers!
