Looks like this camel handler is still deciding if he’s up for the ride. Lovable in appearance, camels can be cantankerous when you’re mean. But they are sweet when treated well and make ideal desert companions. They can drink up to 100 liters of water in one go and efficiently store it. Their thick coat insulates them from the desert heat, and their long eyelashes and ear hairs and sealable nostrils protect them from sand. Camels aren’t picky eaters either and can stomach even thorny twigs. In Jaisalmer, India, camel safaris are a popular attraction. Photographer MICHAEL JO, who had already visited India last year, went back when he got the chance to go with photographer friends. He snapped this shot with his Canon EOS 5D Mark II and shares, “We got our own camel ride and rode through the rippling, windswept desert, which turned out to be one of the most enchanting experiences of the whole trip.”
