Who is Misty Love? A music maverick in her own rights, Misty Love has stood the test of time in life and the music industry. Born in Tallahassee, Florida as Deloris Davis, Misty was a born singer. Her ambition to sing was fueled by her innate ability to harmonize with the songs she heard on the radio in the 60s. After doing the standard “pay your dues” shows with many Detroit based groups, Misty got a break by replacing Caroline Crawford the lead singer of the pop 70s group Bohannon. The group had a major hit song that revolutionized the disco era title “Let’s Start The Dance”. After her stint with Bohannon, she went back to Detroit and started performing with virtually all of the great musicians and artists on the Detroit scene, namely keyboard great Rudy Robinson. Rudy was the music director and right hand man for Mike Hank’s Detroit Based record label D-Town; he taught Love the ins and outs of the fine-tuning she needed in the music industry. In the late 90s Misty had a chance encounter with an up and coming Detroit rapper by the name of Robert James Ritchie from Romeo, Michigan. That artist would later become international recording artist Kid Rock. She and Kid traveled in station wagons the back woods of Michigan and Ohio performing to what would be future fans of the artist. Love performed and recorded in Kid’s band the Brown Truckers with one of Detroit’s most talented vocalist Shirley Hayden (Lead singer of the Parlett). The result was Love participating in the creation of Kid’s smash 1998 hit album “Devil Without A Cause”, which garnered her 10 Diamond, 6 Platinum, and 1 Gold record for her collection. Throughout the years, Love has done a multitude of things to enhance her career goals. She is one of the background singers in the Grammy Award winning 2002 hit docufilm

“Standing In The Shadows Of Motown” that talked about the Motown musicians apply known as the Funk Brothers. She sung backup as a Crystals for LA LA Brooke the former lead singer of the group, on the ‘My Music’ PBS Series. Her career continues to expand as the producer of numerous productions “The Tribute To Kim Weston”, “The Tribute To Mary Wells”, and “Tribute To The Motown Divas” all of which are co-produced by the Motown Alumni Association.

wants to do, and my job is to help to make that vision happen… we are a good team” he said. In a recent conversation with Love she said “I lived in Vegas for a while, and wanted to come home to honor and give flowers to the artists in Detroit while they were living; if they are dead its to late to show our appreciation. That’s why I produced the Detroit Black Music Awards.”
