Introduction Countless meetings... Tonnes of field trips... Over 100 young people... After a year in the making... We are absolutely delighted to announce the full programme for mFEST: Scotland始s first festival planned and programmed by young people. mFEST is the culmination of mPOWER, an innovative project aimed at empowering 12 - 17 year olds to realise our creative potential by giving us access to a range of inspiring national and international artists, film makers, technicians and others who work in the creative industries. Over the past twelve months we have attended some of the UK始s biggest arts festivals such as the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe, Decibel, A Pilgrimage, Glasgow Film Festival, Berlinale, Discovery Film Festival and many more. Our own individual passions for the arts have helped to shape the diverse programme you will experience at mFEST. From the urgent energy of cult Spanish physical theatre company La Fura dels Baus to chart topping pop star Tinchy Stryder, and with over 50 acts in theatre, music, comedy, dance and film performing across the city, we hope there is something for everyone to get excited about. Have an ace weekend and thank you for coming!

2010 is already gathering force for East London based Tinchy Stryder. With festival appearances aplenty including an opening slot on the hallowed Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury alongside Underage Festival in London, 2009 saw the Prince of Grime notch up consecutive top three hits, including chart topper Number 1 that was tipped for the top by the likes of Radio One, Jo Wiley and Mike Skinner. With support from 17-year-old Daisy Dares You fresh from her collaboration with Chipmunk and the Elton John endorsed Pearl And The Puppets, this show is set to be one of the festival highlights - donʼt miss out.

Hadouken! are becoming something of an unstoppable force in 2010. A Top 20 album, a sold-out UK and European tour and a headline slot at Radio 1ʼs Big Weekend event. In contrast to the art-school show ponies and electro-pop crooners that make up UK musicʼs current establishment, Hadouken! go in loud, hard, and fast. The album For the Masses captures their raw, visceral sound, and lands somewhere between the Prodigyʼs Fat of the Land and Pendulumʼs In Silico. A stellar cast of support arrives in the shape of New Young Pony Club with their unique blend of pop punk funk. Darwin Deez is currently doing the rounds on Radio 1 and comes to mFEST hot on the heels of his wonderfully off-kilter eponymous debut album release. Completing the bill is the brilliant Unicorn Kid with his chiptune infused pop.

Scotlandʼs 19 year old comic prodigy and typical half-man-half-Xbox, hormone-ridden teenager brings his smash-hit show to mFEST. Having started doing stand-up when he was just 16 years old, in 2008 Daniel became one of the youngest ever finalists in comedyʼs So You Think Youʼre Funny? competition. He previously wrote material for Frankie Boyle on BBCʼs Mock the Week, was the first stand-up to perform on Channel 4ʼs Paul OʼGrady Show and his 2009 Edinburgh Fringe debut was 100% sold-out, transferring to London for a successful season in the autumn. Daniel is currently developing a sitcom for BBC.
