About Umhlanga It also has up-market, first world Shopping Centres. Umhlanga offers the best South African tour operators, a wealth of entertainment, restaurants and nature trails, all in a secure environment. The spectacular Gateway shopping centre and Sibaya Casino are some of the key attractions that Umhlanga Rocks has to offer. About Umhlanga
The world class Umhlanga Promenade spans the length of the Umhlanga shoreline and is a favourite with joggers and walkers. The award winning Pier is also a must see and was recently voted the “Best Pier in the World” by CNN. Scenic nature trails, horse trails and bird watching are available for those needing a day of escape to pristine natural surrounds. For serious golfers there are a number of superb golf courses, all within a 15-minute drive of Umhlanga. SURROUNDING AREAS INCLUDE... between Durban North and Umhlanga, La Lucia is not only central, but also boasts its own features and amenities. MOUNT EDGECOMBE, named after the seat of the Earl of Mount Edgecombe in Cornwall, England, lies in a tropical garden setting of flowering creepers, plants and tall trees, with a Hindu temple gracing the town’s northern border. UMDLOTI takes its name from the Umdloti River. At the river mouth is a spacious lagoon and the holiday resort of Umdloti, with guesthouses B&B’s and holiday apartments, overlooking the beach and a rockenclosed tidal pool. WESTBROOK BEACH has shark nets, for safe swimming, while surf-fishing is the main pastime along the golden beach expanses leading to Umdloti. A number of spectacular golf courses are situated within easy reach of central Umhlanga. Overlooking the Indian Ocean, just a few kilometres south of Umhlanga, lie the pristine Beachwood Golf Course and the Durban Country Club.
