Wellness Programs Parkinson’s Class

Fall sessions begin Oct 14 Dance Studio Join this series of eight-week group exercise classes anytime. Designed for individuals with varying stages of Parkinson’s disease. Benefits include improved flexibility of lower back and hip flexors, posture, and balance; increased body awareness; strength building and the ability to get up from a chair or the floor; and exercise modifications to meet individual needs. An evaluation must be completed by participants in order to be placed into one of the following classes: Stretching the Limits I (Beginner) Tuesdays & Fridays, 11am-12pm This class is designed for those who have limited ability when it comes to walking or getting up from a chair. No floor work is performed in this class; all exercises may be performed in a chair.

FITNESS

Stretching the Limits II (Intermediate) Tuesdays & Thursdays, 3-4pm This class is designed for those who are mobile and can move around with limited assistance. Classes will include functional exercises, such as getting up and down from a chair at the hand rail and gait training.

Stretching the Limits II (Advanced) Mondays & Wednesdays 11:50am-12:50pm This class is designed for those who are mobile and can move around without assistance. Classes will include functional exercises, such as getting up and down from the floor and gait training. This class incorporates quicker movements and faster-paced exercises — similar to those in Stretching the Limits II (Intermediate). Cardiac Fitness Program Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 7am-12pm Cardiac Fitness Room This is a supervised exercise program in which individuals learn to self-manage their overall cardiovascular health. This program is appropriate for anyone interested in decreasing his or her risk factors for heart disease and implementing a healthy lifestyle. Music, Mindfulness, and Motion

Sept 3-Oct 22 (no class Sept 5, 19 & 26) Nov 5-Dec 17 (no class Nov 28) Dance Studio This program provides people with early- to mid-stage dementia and their caregivers an opportunity to exercise with others in a safe and nurturing environment. MMM meets twice a week for six weeks and provides aerobic exercise, strength conditioning, balance and visual training. Joints in Motion
