uCamille Bartholomew is an amateur Trinidadian artist. As any amateur artist Camille is someone who enjoys making art, strives to make good art, and hopes that people recognize and appreciate her art. Live Your Life Magazine is delighted to share some of Camille's work with you and give you some insight on what inspired her to create the following pieces.

1) IMAGINED SPACE: This landscape painting is simply a result of a visit to Tobago. The memory is originaly based on a beach scene but there was one tree trunk in particular that commanded my attention simply because of the details on it. There is nothing spectacular here really other than my appreciation for texture, shape, colours and other elements and principles in art that can be observed in nature ( but in this case on one tree trunk). As I worked on depicting that tree trunk, the other elements of the painting were added as complements and challenges to my capabilities.

2) Contemporary Dancer: 2013.

Acrylic paints (10 inches x 12 inches). My interest in the depictions of women through Art led to this painting of a resting, somewhat distracted dancer. The gender is purposefully unclear as the emphasis was placed on legs and posture rather than on the soft feminine identity that is often associated with ballet dancers. Sometimes it is alright to objectify the female and male form and sometimes it is not. As human beings who appreciate and encourage morals as well as individuality, we understand that we cannot always say that every opinion or sensualisation of the human body is appropriate or ought to be rejected without consideration. This is simply an unusual piece of work for me that shows that it is alright to paint the object exclusive of common associations.

3) Vanity or Identity. 2013.

Experimenting with the embroidery technique while working on a theme of feminine identity in the CaribbeanBecause of globalization, many aspects of foreign culture are borrowed by Caribbean people. Young females cling to a "Marilyn Monroe" stereotype or that of other celebrities and fail to develop an sometimes fail to accept their local culture duing the proceess of creating their own identity during teenage years and adulthood. Although aspects of one's personality may be viewed as vanity to someone it can also be viewed as part of their developed identity by another and accepted as either or. This image was part of four (4) similar images used in an installation with similar media.

uCamille loves Impressionism. Her interests led her to experiment with embroidery. Most times she paints abstract art, landscapes and seascapes.

Her work can be viewed on Instagram : @naturallycammie 4) Contemporary dancer. 2013 Acrylics on canvas. 36x36 inches.This painting was based on my view of a Contemporary dancer. I focused on the figure's freedom and strength whilst in motion. Ironically, the placement of the subject and the brushstrokes created an implied shape that can be described as an eye. This emphasisizes that the depiction is based on what I see whilst looking at dancers whether in paintings, images or real life performances.

5) MEMORIAS OF MAYARO 2008 Acrylic paint on canvas 80 x 90cm. It was my first attempt at plein air painting so I actually started this painting at Mayaro Beach. This was my confidence builder. The size and details encouraged me to observe and love the art work and appreciate flaws that are a part of the learning process. It's one of my favourite pieces.

This painting was another leaning tool for me.

I learned valuable essons on brush technique and observation. It was also the frst painting that I ever sold. It is interesting to note what people consider to be valuable art. It appears as though people prefer to buy landscapes that they can associate with or what may be reminders of wonderful memories. I was greatful for this opportunity to sell my artwork and use it as motivation to continue to work towards improvement.

itesurfing or Kiteboarding is a surface water sport combining aspects of Wakeboarding, Windsurfing, Surfing, Paragliding and Sailing into one extreme sport. 1) When cleaning your face, or wiping, always push your face upwards. Never wipe downwards as it makes your skin sag.

2) Always moisturise your skin to keep your skin soft and glowing.

3) Drink lots of water. Keeping your body hydrated, especially when the weather is hot, is important for skin care.

4) Wash your face regularly on a hot day as it helps to unplug pores and clean dirt off face. The aim is to wash your face twice a day with soap.

5) Do not touch your face, especially if hands are dirty.

Touching your face can spread bacteria and clog pores.

6) Exfoliate your face. Use gentle face scrubs or home remedies to keep face clean, for example, with lemon, honey and sugar.

7) Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. This helps to reduce aging effects on the skin as these are packed with antioxidants that protect the body against damage, for example, mango.

8) Protect your skin from the sun. Put sun screen on your face as overexposure to the sun’s rays can be damaging. It can also worsen acne.

Did you know that there is a rise in the occurrence of kidney failure in Trinidad and Tobago? This means that there is an increase in the number of patients who are being treated for kidney failure by dialysis.

When the kidney fails, the ability for the organ to filter blood is reduced. The blood therefore remains toxic and damages other organs in the body which can be detrimental to your overall health. Without the proper treatment, this can cause irreversible damage.

FUNCTIONS OF THE KIDNEY There are two kidneys in the body. They are in the shape of beans and are located in the upper abdominal cavity. The right kidney is a bit lower than the left because of the position of the liver on the right of the body. Their main function is to extract waste from the body.

WHO IS AT RISK FOR KIDNEY FAILURE ?

Those who are commonly diagnosed with Kidney failure include those with the following conditions:

1) High blood pressure uProlonged high pressure damages the kidney. The high pressure damages kidney blood vessels and reduces their ability to work properly.

Signs and Symptoms Symptoms of kidney failure include weight loss, weakness, shortness of breath, tiredness and confusion. Inability to remove potassium from the bloodstream may lead to abnormal heart rhythms. Skin may also become dry and darkened, but initially there may be no symptoms of kidney failure.

t music artist: Steve Walcott aka Steve I Steve I, born August 16 1982, in Petit Valley, Port of Spain, Trinidad is not only a singer/songwriter, but also a dynamic musical entertainer. His musical personality was formed at at the tender age of 13, where he would listen to various styles of music due to the many cultures in his surroundings.

with his childhood friend Christopher Mayers, under the name “Steve N Chris”. , his wings had definitely formed and his national tour schedule grew; performing at many events including Ministerial functions, Private Reception, and as opening acts for several shows throughout the Carnival season, among others

With a srong passion for music, he started a piano class at his neighbourhood church and this is where he was able to interpret what he heard in his surroundings at a musical level.

Rising from a budding performer to an artist, Steve I said, hard work definitely pays off; as he had to match the standards of established artists; together with overwhelming periods of frustration.

Living to tell the tales in 2014, he undoubtedly fought the odds, until he got the hang of it," he admits upon reflection.

Here is his advice to all young and budding artists, "The sky was and still is the limit…never give up, keep pushing until you achieve your goals and aspirations”.

With a hunger to excel musically, Steve I, went on to dominate every musical opportunity in 1999 while attending the Diego Martin Secondary School, where he won countless trophies and certificates at the national level.

That same year, he went on to win the Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival, in the Steel Pan solo category, which undoubtedly fuelled his hunger for music and entertainment even more.

Fresh out of secondary school, he began to spread his wings entering local competitions such as Scouting for Talent and We Beat, further nationally tapping into the likes of internationally recognised Soca artist; Swappi. Regionally, Soca artist; Keann Walters and Anderson “Blood” Armstrong and internationally, he worked with the likes of DJ Groove and Jeremy Q. In late 2000 with spectacular reviews and popularity surpassing all expectations, Steve I, joined Trinidad & Tobago signature groups “The Distinguished Gentlemen”, taking R&B to new heights.

Steve I, with his dominating stage presence, refreshing and powerful vocals made it easy for his audiences to watch and listen too. As many of his females fans would say: “Steve I, is easy on the eyes”, commonly referring to him as “Chocolate Thunder”.

By 2009, with a confidence like never before, was selected to perform on the big stage for Trinidad’s biggest Soca competition for young artists, “Synergy Soca Stars Season 4”, in collaboration

Q. Was this always your goals?

A. Without a shadow of a doubt, Music is who I am; everything else is what I do.

Q. What are your inspirations?

A. Steve I, is inspired by so many different fractions it is unbelievable. First and foremost, I’m inspired by God and the fact that I have life in general. But on a musical level, I’m inspired by my fans and of course the heavyweights in the business; people like Machel Montano, Alison Hinds, Rihanna and the list goes on and on. On another note, I’m inspired by the passion within me to do what I do.

Ultimately, I think music unites people in general, so I draw inspiration from that as well.

Q. What is your taste in music?
