Mayor’s message

The Laidley Spring Festival is regarded as the leading event in the Lockyer Valley. Over three days in September, we warmly welcome visitors from across Queensland and interstate to celebrate the beauty of the Lockyer Valley. But what makes this festival so special are the community groups and associations that work together to make it all possible. Partnerships are at the heart of our Council and our community and this is a perfect example of what can be achieved when we all work together for the betterment of our region. This year’s event will run from Thursday 6 – Saturday 8 September. The “Songs of Yesteryear” theme will include a Street Parade at the new time of 10am, as well as the annual Spring Orchid Show, Quilt and Craft Expo, church displays, arts and craft stalls and much more. As the warmer weather nears, the region is boasting an array of stunning award-winning gardens on display and I would encourage residents and visitors to take the opportunity to visit these gardens. On behalf of Council, we congratulate the community on the outstanding job they have done, often behind-the-scenes, to prepare the town and gardens for the celebrations. We warmly welcome visitors to the region for the event and hope you enjoy your stay. Cr Tanya Milligan, MAYOR, Lockyer Valley Regional Council
