It’s sale time once again! Time sure does seem to fly by between sales. Our thanks goes out to everyone who attended and purchased at our sale last year. Your continued support of our program is appreciated and gives us the motivation to keep improving our herd year over year.

We remain committed to raising sound, quality 2 Year Old Red Angus bulls. Our purebred herd is treated no differently than our commercial herd. They need to be productive, efficient cattle who can survive whatever conditions Mother Nature throws. We are continually advancing our program with new genetics by purchasing bulls and heifers from progressive Red Angus breeders. Our aim is to have a herd of productive cows who calve unassisted, are structurally correct from top to bottom, have an easy going disposition, and can thrive in the herd for many years. The perfect cow herd takes a lifetime to achieve and we’re true believers in the philosophy that if you take care of the cow herd, the bull pen will take care of itself!

We have 33 bulls available this year who have been raised without creep and are grown at a slower pace to allow their genetics to naturally shine. We are constantly evaluating the bulls’ development and culling accordingly.

We believe you’ll be able to find a good cross section of bulls that will suit your needs.

As we don’t know what the COVID restrictions will be on sale day, we’ve made a few additions to the sale to make it easier for you. The auction will be held on the ranch as usual and you are welcome to join us in person Monday, March 8. The bulls will be penned for easy viewing and lunch will be served at noon.

You’re also encouraged to view the bulls ahead of the sale and then bid online. DV Auction will be handling the online bidding. If you need any assistance in getting set up, call Sarah Buchanan (306-681-5340) and she’ll be able to give you a hand.

We’ll also have people available to take your phone bids. Please call us or Perlich ahead of the sale to make arrangements.

TERMS The terms of this sale are cash or cheque payable in Canadian funds. Settlement is to be made with the clerks present immediately following the auction. The right of property shall not pass until settlement is made in full. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. Disputes will be settled by the auctioneer & their decision will be final.

CAA REGISTRATION A certificate of registration will be transferred once settlement is made in full.

ANNOUNCEMENTS All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over any printed material.

INSURANCE

Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as it’s sold. Therefore we recommend you insure your purchases, but we do not require it. Insurance will be available sale day (Melissa Stenger).

BREEDERS GUARANTEE All animals are sold as guaranteed breeders as outlined in the CAA bylaws. We reserve the right to draw semen on any bull at our expense and your convenience. All bulls will be semen tested prior to delivery. No guarantee is given that a bull’s semen will freeze. Nor does the guarantee apply to animals that are injured, sick, or uncared for.

Under no circumstances shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price of the animal in question.

 The bulls may be viewed at home any

time prior to the sale. Visitors are always welcome.  We’ll have the bulls penned and ready for viewing after 10:00 am on sale day.  Leave your stock trailer at home, we won’t be loading out any bulls the day of the sale.

ACCIDENTS Even though every precaution will be taken to protect the safety of everyone attending Lust Farms, no one acting on the behalf of Lust Farms nor the owners assume any responsibility in any matter of liability, legal or otherwise in the event of loss of property or injury. All persons attend at their own risk.

WINTERING AND DELIVERY All animals will be wintered at no charge until delivery.

Prior arrangements must be made if the bull is to stay any longer than May 1, 2021 and may be subject to a boarding fee. Free delivery within a 300km radius of Medicine Hat, AB or the nearest port of entry to Lust Farms. Deliveries will begin after April 1, 2021 at our earliest convenience.

Redemption was purchased in 2017 from Jade & Don Mackenzie of V8U as the 2nd high selling bull. He checked a lot of boxes for us - a desirable birth weight, great performance numbers, born out of a proven dam and eye appeal to spare!

Upper Cut is a son out of Six Mile’s Smokin Gun sire who caught our eye on sale day. He’s an attractive, deep red sire that stamps his calves with the same style and pattern. He’s been Mr. Consistency for us. 75 progeny to date that average 83 pounds at birth and come in with an average weaning index of 101. Bulls or heifers, he does both equally well.

Upshot 125D was the feature Mac Upshot son in Mackenzie’s 2017 sale. Upshot is a larger framed bull that brings a nice outcross pedigree to our herd. Upshot’s YI of 116 caught our eye sale day, and he’s passing his above average yearling growth onto his progeny.
