Fókuszban a gyűjtemény THE COLLECTION IN focUS
seventies and eighties – Conceptual Art, Fluxus, Performance and Body Art (Rainer, Beuys) – are represented by purchases of recent years (Erdély, Lakner, Maurer, Hajas and others). Finally, the new painting of the nineteen eighties is presented in works by A. R. Penck, Baselitz, Birkás, Fehér, Kelemen, Bak and others.

Válogatás a Ludwig Múzeum – Kortárs Művészeti Múzeum gyűjteményéből 2007. november 16-tól A kiállítást rendezte: Szipőcs Krisztina, Dr. Baksa-Soós Veronika, Üveges Krisztina A Ludwig Múzeum 1991-es és a Kortárs Művészeti Múzeum 1996-os nyitókiállítása óta első alkalommal kerül a múzeum gyűjteménye a figyelem fókuszába: a mintegy ötszáz darabot számláló anyagból mintegy háromszáz látható a múzeum három szintjén. A gyűjtemény mag ja a Ludwig házaspár 1989-es, hetven művet számláló adománya, melyet két évvel később egy kilencvenöt darabból álló letéttel bővítettek ki. Ezzel a felbecsülhetetlen értékű és jelentőségű gesztussal elérhető közelségbe kerültek a huszadik

század második felének addig csak reprodukciókról ismert művészeti teljesítményei, betöltve azt az űrt, amelyet ezeknek a referenciáknak a hiánya okozott a művészettörténeti és művészeti képzésben. A 2005-ben megnyílt, Néray Katalin által rendezett harmadik emeleti állandó kiállítást lényegében változatlanul hagyva, kisebb kiegészítésekkel nyújtunk művészettörténeti áttekintést a hatvanas évektől a kilencvenes évekig a nemzetközi és magyar művészeti tendenciákról.
A képzeletbeli sort két késői, jelentős Picasso-festmény kezdi, melynek kvalitásaira a nyolcvanas évek új, expresszív festészete irányította rá a figyelmet. A hatvanas évektől Európa legnagyobb pop-art gyűjteményét létrehozó Ludwig házaspár jóvoltából amerikai művészek emblematikus művei (Warhol, Lichtenstein, Oldenburg stb.), valamint a fotórealizmus néhány kiemelkedő darabja (Close, Morley) került Budapestre. Ezzel párhuzamosan mutatjuk be a hatvanas évek progresszív magyar festészetének néhány fontos darabját (Keserü, Bak, Nádler). Az európai tendenciákat is felvillantjuk egy-egy jellemző művön keresztül (Tinguely, Appel, Hantai). A társadalmi-politikai tematikájú alkotások sorát a német Vostell és Richter művei kezdik, és a rendszerváltás előtti kelet-európai munkák (Gulyás, Pinczehelyi, illetve Lejderman, Nazarenko stb.) folytatják. Curators: Krisztina Szipőcs, Dr Veronika Baksa-Soós, Krisztina Üveges This is the first time since the initial exhibitions of the Ludwig Museum in 1991 and the Museum of Contemporary Art in 1996 that the Museum’s own collection has been put in full focus: some three hundred of the five hundred items it holds will be on display on the three floors of the Museum. Forming the core of the collection are the seventy works which the Ludwigs in 1989, and the further ninety-five pieces they put on deposit two years later. By this act of immeasurable value and significance, they brought to the Hungarian public artistic achievements of the second half of the twentieth century which had hitherto only been seen in reproduction, filling a void that the absence of these points of reference had caused in the education of art history and fine arts.
The exhibition of the collection curated by Katalin Néray, which opened in 2005, has been left virtually unchanged, with some minor additions, offering an arthistorical overview of international and Hungarian art trends from the nineteen sixties to the nineties. The imaginary line starts with two major Picasso paintings, whose special qualities acquired special attention through the expressive painting of the nineteen eighties. The Ludwigs, who started building what has become Europe’s largest Pop Art collection in the nineteen sixties, brought to Budapest emblematic works by American artists (Warhol, Lichtenstein, Oldenburg, etc.), and some outstanding pieces of photorealism (Close, Morley). Juxtaposed with these are some important pieces of progressive Hungarian painting from the nineteen sixties (Keserü, Bak, Nádler). One or two distinctive works also give a glimpse into European trends (Tinguely, Appel, HantaÏ). The section of artworks concerned with social and political themes commences with paintings by Vostell and Richter and continues with pre-transition Eastern European works (Gulyás, Pinczehelyi, Leiderman, Nazarenko etc.).
