THE TREND
HAPPILY EVER AFTER Closets are all full of mint green, lilac, and pale pink. Fluffy textures, sequin and embroidered fabrics and XXL jewels and tiaras as main accesories. These trends are guaranteed to make you feel like royalty! Candy, sugar and cupcake frosting are back on the fashion menu. Also princesses came back to stay, from Louis Vuitton last spring collection, when Marc Jacobs brought back pastel colors, feathers, lace, and embroidery with a princess army ridding on a white carrousel. But Jacobs wasn’t the unique designer who takes inspiration in fairy tales. Prada’s appliqué daisies and Chanel’s soft frills added the new innocent mood. Also Meadham Kirchhoff duo presented their own vision of the trend with their “Antibeauty-princesses” meeting Victorian rag dolls, with net skirts, pastel lips and huge accessories. Lace, princess favorite fabric is also going strong this season, with oversize reworking of traditional “Broderie anglaise” at Louis Vuitton and lilac and pale pink eyelet patterns at Prada’s 50’s inspired princesses. Real Princesses as Kate Middleton also inspired spring-summer collection with
the peplum silhouette or boxy shaped jackets shape as seen on MIU MIU. By the time, Florence Welch emerged, as Ariel the mermaid princess, singing at Chanel from a giant shell. Mermaids and other ocean creatures where ridding the catwalks, from Alexander McQueen to Armani. Metallic in soft hues were everywhere and aquaticsthemed details had their moment. To end, Sleeping beauty tale inspired some designers in their spring summer collections. Silky ensembles stepped out of the boudoir onto the runway with monogrammed sets, and gentlemen scarf-print trousers as seen in Paul Smith and J.W.Anderson and sumptuous, slouchy numbers at Lanvin and Stella McCartney. Lana del Rey , Marina and the diamonds and many other celebrities have already worn this trends.

, WERE WITH THE(GIRL) BAND INTERVIEW
KAIHO is a 7 piece folk-pop girlband founded at Edinburgh. Created by Saskia Longaretti and Freya Mitchiston ( who have known each other since they where young and lived in England, and who previously had a band together, called “Pudding”). When they moved to Edinburgh to study at the university, met the girls with who ended creating the band. Harriet Braine (Who plays the guitar and vocals), Melanie Dutton (Drums and percussion), Katy Bryer (trumpet), Tara Morris (Violin and piano), Sophie Crafts (Accordion). missROBIN meets founders Saskia(Lead voices and ukelele) and Freya Mitchison (Bass and vocals). SO, HOW DID IT BEGIN? S: I got ditched from a band when I was 16 so I made Freya start one with me to get revenge F: No that’s bollocks, they didn’t ditch you. Basically we went to school together in London and started writing songs, then Sas followed me up to Edinburgh after I came to university S: Oh really? F: Don’t deny it... yeah and then we spent 2 years writing more stuff and putting a band together, and finally found it with these guys. Sophie was the last to join, she moved over from America and stayed in our flat for a month S: She jammed with us on the first night and we just couldn’t get rid of her... WHO INSPIRES YOU? ... awkward silence F: I’ll start then shall I?! I’d say Damon Albarn from Blur was my first true love, and now it’s moved on to Zach Condon from Beirut- I’m obsessed. It’s a bit weird. S: Mitchers gets all her inspiration from celebrity
crushes, it is a bit weird F: Lets not forget R-Patz S: I have nothing to say to that, I haven’t heard his music F: I’m obviously not talking about his music... S: Our shared loves are Radiohead (In rainbows is essentially the best album ever made), The Cure and Bowie. WHAT ABOUT EDINBURGH’S MUSICAL SCENE? F: I used to think Edinburgh’s musical scene was terrible and Glasgow was infinitely better, but recently I’ve become way more enamored with it. There is some really exciting stuff coming out of Edinburgh right now S: Both cities are great, we’re loving Honeyblood and Saint Max from Glasgow, and The Last of Barrett’s Privateers from Edinburgh are doing really well. Ajimal helped us record a song and he showed us his new stuff which really blew our minds. F: To name but a few. A guy I worked with called Yusuf Azak is doing some interesting stuff too.

“THERE IS SOME REALLY EXCITING STUFF COMING OUT OF EDINBURGH RIGHT NOW” WHERE DO YOU USE TO PLAY? F: Well we rehearse in our living room in Sas and I’s flat in Bruntsfield... S: But we gig mostly in the Wee Red Bar! (laughs) We’ve played at Sneaky Pete’s recently supporting Dark Dark Dark who were great and we really like it there. We’d like to start playing more venues like that. FAV PLACE TO SHOP IN EDINBURGH/ SCOTLAND? S: Charity shops, the Salvation Army on Lothian Road in Edinburgh F: All of the ones on Nicolson Street are great too, for student budgets! I can justify going shopping all the time because its “for charity”... S: This is how you’ve ended up with 20 coats F: Yeah and I’m having to give them back to Charity shops now as they don’t all fit in my house... it goes full circle WHAT ITEM IN YOUR CLOSET WILL YOU KEEP FOREVER? S: My kilt F: it’s a bit slaggy though, your kilt.. S: I thought you said you saw one just like it by Moschino? F: I don’t know what I’d keep... I don’t really have anything that special. Maybe my vintage blue and white pinstripe dungarees...

Fairy Tales are magical. They are short and to the point, yet in those few pages manage to convey so many things, and stir within us deep emotions, rooted deep into our childhoods. BY LAURA HUETO PUIG

The notions of childhood and fairy tales seem in fact to often go hand in hand, and there’s a very obvious reason for that, which is simply that it’s the estimated age at which we all choose to end our days with a song, a kiss, and notably, a fairy tale or a story. And for some lucky little ones I know, all three. In any case, this daily rite serves as a transition from the real world, the world of school and homework, the contradictory infantile world of unwanted responsibilities and boring idleness, to the much more exciting world of dreams. The world of freedom, imagination and creativity. The world of princes and princesses, grumpy toads and imposing castles; of magic wands and naughty fairies. Sometimes, of nightmares and evil witches who mischievously make us shiver under our covers. But most of the time, a marvelous place where anything is possible, and everything smells of liberty. In fewer words, Wonderland. And Wonderland is what I believe gives these stories their value. For how bored would the Little Red Riding Hood be were it not for the presence of this invaluable character, a talking wolf who takes a fancy to dressing up in the clothes of venerable old ladies he’s previously assassinated? (She actually would not only be bored, but also very much alive. Except we then would have missed this great opportunity of learning that life lesson of never trusting strangers.) And what would the Sleeping Beauty have done without her curse? No curse means no lady in distress, which then means no prince. Sad but true. Which leads us to this: Magic keeps life interesting. Wonderland isn’t Wonderland without improbability, utopia and a simplistic view of things. And isn’t that what childhood’s all about in the end?
What would be the fun of reading about reality at age four? There’s a reason for Harry Potter. Almodóvar, Émile Zola and Charles Dickens should be kept for later, for that moment in which we realize that dreaming doesn’t pay the bills, and that strangers are often not the ones to be mistrusted. Also, that no one is ever 100% good or 100% evil. In short, childhood should be about dreaming. And daydreaming. And imagining amazing futures for ourselves, before reality hits us at some point, and we have to build ourselves a bridge between the two worlds. For I firmly believe in wild dreams as the strongest and sincerest shape our adult ambition can take. It is because we dream, and because we dare to put ourselves out there, that we can do great things. If we don’t dare to imagine that our dreams can and will come true if we work hard enough, no one else will. So let’s indulge in some magical and wondrous reading that can let our dreams sprout and bloom. Happy Reading!

Yesterday, I went to my best friend’s bachelorette party. I told my boyfriend I would be home quite late. Do I really need to explain why?! It was a surprise party for her and for the rest of the crew. I had planned everything, but didn’t expect it would get beyond my expectations! The meeting was at 7.00 p.m. What had I planned for them? Where would we go? What would we do? When the six of us arrived at the meeting point we went for a drink in a nice and cosy chillout bar. They couldn’t wait any longer and started asking a thousand questions. -What are we gonna do? -We can’t wait… What is your plan? -Where are we going? -Well girls I wanted to do something very different and special with you all and for you – So… What do you enjoy above everything?..... -Shopping!!! -No... -.-’ -Makeup and Nail Polish -Not far! we are going to a “Beauty Party” :) -A What? What do you mean? -I am not saying anything else They were all expecting the typical bachelorette party long dinner, too much to drink and even Chippendales! But no... I had planned the best party ever, a real girlie party! -Shall we go girls? -YEAHHHHH We arrived at this amazing spa and the party started: skin cleansing, face massage, body exfoliation, pedicure and manicure, hair and makeup. It was a perfect afternoon! We were all together again as we used to be when we were teens, chatting and enjoying ourselves with our soon-to-be married friend. We were all feeling so good and beautiful, like real little princesses! And the most important thing to us: our best friend was on a cloud! When it was finally my turn, Celia began doing my nails with this amazing Essie Nail Polish -Mademoiselle – a light glossy pink. Don’t you think it’s a great name? Perfect as none of us were married, well at least not yet! She put two layers so it would remain clear and subtle but she had something in mind... a touch of extravagance!!! Thus, she used the Essence More than Silver nail polish on my tips – a glittery polish – I was the princess of a fairy tale! But if I was the princess of such a tale, who would I
chose to be? Belle? No, Ariel? No, Cinderella? No... I would be the most beautiful, kind and wise princess of them all – Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty. Celia made my manicure even more special when she painted a red rose on my nail so I would remember this day. OMG it was beautiful, I was in a dream! When I got back home at midnight, my boyfriend asked me: -Weren’t you going out for your friend’s “Bachelorette Party”? -Yes I did But what did you guys do? Where did you go? You look amazing!!! The next morning, when I woke up, instead of feeling exhausted and hungover, I felt relaxed and gorgeous. I enjoyed each moment of the beauty session. But wait a sec!!! was it real? was I dreaming? I looked at my nails... and the rose was there… I really had been the Sleeping Beauty for a night.

The ever-charming Zooey Deschanel stole our hearts when she showed up at 500 days of Summer. Deschanel is aware of how closely she’s associated with her hairstyle. “I’m bangs and eyes,” she says. “It’s who I am. There have been periods when I’ve grown my bangs out, but I always cut them back, so it’s like, why go through the trouble? Her show New Girl changed Deschanel’s image—and she says she’s more like Jess than most of the other characters she’s played. “Because I have brown hair and a low voice, I would get cast as dry, sarcastic, ironic people, which I can do, but it’s not my sense of humor. I’m a very positive person. I get excited easily, and I like to jump around. . Deschanel has both worshipful fans and snarky critics who find her overly girlish. Her defense? “If you feel like dressing like a girl, there’s nothing wrong with that. I don’t know why femininity should be associated with weakness. Women should be free to express who they are without thinking, I need to act like a man, or I need to tone it down to be successful. That’s a very good way to keep women down,” she says. Her style is quite classic with a romantic touch. She loves babydoll dresses inspired in the 50´s and 60´s. Her make up is simple, she often use eyeliner in the upper lid and a red lipstic.She owns a huge dress collection, including vintage baby doll dresses, Haute Couture gowns and cocktail mini dresses. She even has thought in open her own fashion museum.

LAVENDER SCONES -Full recipe-
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly oil a large baking sheet with vegetable-oil. In a large bowl, sift together flour and baking powder. With a pastry blender or two knives, cut butter into flour mixture until particles are the size of small peas or fine bread crumbs. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and Lavender. NOTE: Save a small amount of lavender to sprinkle on top of the scones before baking. Stir the sugar/lavender mixture into the flour mixture. Add enough milk to make a soft, sticky dough. Turn dough out onto a well-floured surface. Cut dough into 1-inch thick rounds with a cookie cutter/glass. Place scones on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top of each scone with a dash of milk and sprinkle with the reserved lavender and sugar. Bake for approximately 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool. Serve with rose jam and Devonshire Cream.
