101 Cozy, colourful and slightly shabby chic, tarte is not a store that you can just ‘grab and go’. Situated in a lovely ‘village’ like sim at Scribbled Hearts, the store is housed in a large warm and cozy cottage. It’s a familiar and happy place. I am in this store several times a month and yet I still find the need to walk around and browse. There is this feeling of ‘sit down and read a book’ with it. It’s hard not to feel so comfortable here, and you would have to fight the urge to take a nap or two. If this was Real Life, tarte is that quaint shop in a small town where you grab a Sunday breakfast with the family while browsing the products…and then buy the same furniture to imitate that atmosphere in your own home. Tarte’s item deliberately looks ‘imperfect’, which to me makes it perfect. The items are ‘worn’. They sometimes looked repurposed, repainted over and over again, scuffed wood, faded colours that once were bright in their newness with obvious signs of being well-used. This is what Alessandra Foxtrot of tarte wished to achieve in her creations, a feeling of warmth and coziness. “SLiving to me is the warmth and coziness of making a space your own with unlimited flexibility, without the hassle of having to clean up or exert a ton of effort to change things up.
