In that time he has been an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, supported business initiatives and charity fundraising events. We thank him for his contribution over the years. Business Update The hot topic in June was the Faringdon Neighbourhood Plan. The Chamber of Commerce hosted an informal information evening in the Old Town Hall for all businesses in the area to view the plan, ask questions and comment on the plan itself. The Neighbourhood Plan is already influencing planning policy in the town and has been created by the people, for the people, taking into account the hopes and aspirations of residents and businesses alike. An employment group has fought to safeguard land for commercial activity in Faringdon, mindful of the projected increase in population. Protection of local green space including Humpty Hill has been included. The evening also served as a social and networking event for those who attended. The 4th of July (American Independence Day) has been anglicised into “Independent’s Day” to promote “independent” businesses nationwide. Here in Faringdon, we are promoting budding entrepreneurs with a young people’s market in the Market Place. There will be more from our community minded youngsters in the town on this day too; the Girl Guides will be demonstrating our town’s new defibrillator which will be located by the new public toilets in Southampton Street. Please support and encourage these business minded youngsters at these events.

0 0 0 1 We’re often asked ‘Why are some whiskies so much more expensive than others?’ and along with age, it is the rarity of a single malt that can add a significant number of zeros to its price tag. Whilst this may be down to the fact that the whisky has been drawn from a single cask, and therefore there are only a finite number of bottles available, another reason why a single malt is rare is when the distillery it was produced at has closed and is never likely to produce whisky again. During the whisky boom of the 1960's and 1970's there were a number of new distilleries built and an increase in whisky production generally. After the boom came (perhaps inevitably) the bust, as demand for whisky fell and the industry was left with a rather large ‘whisky loch’. The solution for many owners was to close smaller, less productive distilleries and during the mid 1980's a number of these were mothballed or demolished completely (interestingly, this pattern of high demand, building of new distilleries etc is currently happening, we await future developments with interest). Some of the whisky produced at the distilleries before they closed had always been highly sought after but even those that were just workaday whiskies mainly intended for blends have acquired a more iconic status over the years than would probably have been the case, it being human nature to desire something that is no longer available! What all the malts have in common is that they are a part of whisky history, each with their own tale to tell and their own special character. When you drink whisky from a closed distillery it takes on a special significance, as with each sip you take there is that much less of it left in the world. Not only that, styles of whisky change subtly over the years and each whisky from a closed distillery is a small time capsule from an era gone by. Two of the most famous closed distilleries must be Brora (from the Highlands) and Port Ellen (from Islay). Both produced peated malts (although in Brora’s case, it was only for a few years) and this style of whisky has become very desirable so bottling's of these are extremely sought after. Obviously, as the years go by any whisky left from the distilleries is getting older so as well as factoring the closed distillery element into the pricing the cost of storing the whisky for a long period of time has to be added, as does the fact that a higher proportion of it will have evaporated. However, having been fortunate enough to taste bottling's of both of these I can say that they well deserve their excellent reputation, and sampling whiskies like these are a privilege, that you should seize with both hands if you get the chance.

Faringdon Acupuncture Being a back ache suffer most of my adult life due to a motorbike accident and my horse preferring to see me face to face instead of on its back, which resulted in two compression fractures in my spine, plus the fact I spend most of my day sitting in front of the computer compiling The Advertiser when the offer from Rachel came along, to experience first hand how acupuncture worked, I jumped at it! Rachel works out of The Rookery on the first floor, straight up the stairs and into the door facing you. She is a very calm and a relaxing person to be with, asking for a history of your complaints whilst also checking your lifestyle choices and thus forming a picture of your everyday life. Once finished she softens the lighting, plays relaxing music, and asks you to lie on her table where she gently massages your back. The massage in itself causes you to forget the pain and relax, what a pleasure. After the massage the acupuncture needles were applied, each individually wrapped and sterile, I felt nothing at all, not even a small prick, as she put them in. The needles are used to stimulate the body's 14 major meridians, or energycarrying channels, they resist or overcome illness and conditions by correcting imbalances. Only once they were all in, did I start having the sensation of a slight ache where each needle was inserted accompanied by a little bit of warmth but no discomfort at all. While the needles were working their magic on me, Rachel started working on my feet. I am a great believer in reflexology, the feet and hands having a specific system of zones which reflect an image of the body, applying pressure to them effects a physical change. What an experience, I was so relaxed I could have fallen asleep. Still no pain at all from the acupuncture needles just a slight sense that something was there. It was at this point that it dawned on me I could not feel my back ache, it wasn't where it was suppose to be, it had gone! I had the sensation I was on a cloud, floating around the room but what I had walked in with, the nagging back ache, had strangely enough gone! I got up and dressed and the relaxed feeling continued for the rest of the day. Without any strong pain killers causing havoc with my stomach and making me feel drowsy, my back pain had gone. I’m sitting here writing this article at my computer a few weeks later and have not experienced the backache as I had before. Rachel treats a wide range of problems with her acupuncture: stop smoking, weight loss, gynaecology, fertility, sport injuries, and of course pain relief. If you would like any more information have a look on her web site www.faringdonacupuncture.co.uk or call Rachel on 07917 411552

| The Advertiser | page 9 | Pirates of the Blood Sea is local writer Duncan Saunders’ brand new book for children. In the novel Daniel, a young bookworm, is given a dusty ancient book and an old faded map by his Uncle Alexander (the owner of the local bookshop). Daniel starts to read the old book and then following the curious instructions from his uncle, uses the map to enter the exciting world of pirates from the past. Daniel finds himself pitched into a world where once a change is made it cannot be undone and the clever Captain Crimson − a swashbuckling female heroine − plots with the Admiralty and Captain Firebird to fight off the threat of the ruthless Captain Ironskull “more machine than man” and his mechanical mysterious steam-powered ship. There are twists and turns in both worlds as Daniel and the pirates come into contact with unlikely allies and traitors, raging sea battles with canons, steam pistols, flintlocks and swords and outmanoeuvre sea monsters raised from the depths of the ocean by sea wizards. I had the chance to chat to the author to find out his inspiration. Duncan told me he loved pirate and nautical adventures in books he read as a child and so he naturally wanted to write his own novel about pirates set at sea. He used to spend many holidays at his grandparents home in Cornwall, where the sheltered creeks, coves, harbours and quays have historical links with the real-life pirates of the Cornish coast. A visit to the Museum of the History of Science in Oxford (next to the Sheldonian Theatre in Broad Street) where you can see collections of brass telescopes and Victorian scientific instruments and steampunk art formed the ideas around the creation of the villain of the story Captain Ironskull. Duncan lives locally and teaches at Faringdon Junior School. His first book Dinosaurs, Aliens and the Shop that Sells Everything was a top selling children’s Sci-Fi Kindle book and highly complimented “Excellent debut novel”, his ideas were also adapted for the stage and performed in Uffington. Duncan’s favourite author is Roald Dalh who he met in Faringdon as a child in a bookshop in the 1980’s. Roald Dalh was visiting the bookshop to sign copies of his latest book, The Twits. If you’d like to meet the author, he will be in the Forget Me Not tea room in Uffington on Saturday 11th July at 3pm. Duncan will be sharing snippets of his book and promises to sign copies for avid readers young and older and offer writing tips for any budding authors. Books cost £4.99 each, so go along for a lovely afternoon of exciting adventure stories and scrumptious cakes. If you’d like to know more about Duncan Saunders and his work take a look at his Facebook page. Pirates of the Blood Sea is also available from Amazon for Kindle or paperback at £4.99. Isla Whitton

Meet the Leader – James Greenaway Far Runners are delighted to announce that we have a new official Run Leader! James Greenaway has recently completed his Run England Leader in Running Fitness (LiRF) qualification and joins the established team of three Run Leaders, meaning we can now offer more runs! Let’s hear from James.... ‘I got into running in 2012 after a significant break from any exercise. I was determined to lose some weight and regain some level of fitness. Starting out was tougher than I had imagined, but with a little persistence I was soon hooked! What went from a plan to shift some weight and to get fit again soon became a passion. I jumped at the chance of becoming a Run Leader for Far Runners, to help motivate others and hopefully get some more people running! The group has certainly helped improve my running; I look forward to continuing to run with a great bunch of people and now lend a helping hand when needed.’ More about James – facts and figures! Years Running: 3 My favourite distance: 10 km (a personal favourite mixing endurance and speed) Route: Since moving to Faringdon, practically anything off road that helps keeps things varied Music: I often listen to dance music when running alone Treat: Chocolate! If I told you I demolished three Snickers after a half marathon personal best I wouldn’t be lying! Top Tip: Always set yourself a goal so you have something to continuously aim for, whether it be completing an event or simply running a specific distance! As part of his commitment to Far Runners, James will be leading a ‘Sofa to 5K’ course. This new course will run from approximately 18th July for 10 weeks and will cater for absolute beginners or those returning to running after a significant break, so there’s no better time to give running a go. Look out for details on facebook FarRunners, or www.faringdon.org also around town. Regular runs will continue for all abilities: Tues 6.30pm & Weds 7.00pm Market Square, Sun 9.30am Faringdon leisure centre.

There’s always something to change, something that’s not completely right within our lives. Sometimes it’s a small thing and is easy to change; like new hair or new shoes. Other times it’s a big deal, a change in behaviour or lifestyle, and these alterations take considerably more effort. Summer has brought about a welcome change of warmer weather. This warmth seems to have ignited ideas that have been bubbling. In the past couple of weeks I have seen many clients make significant decisions. Changes in their lives. A different job, a new house mate, a trip abroad and even a chance of a baby. There are many rewarding aspects to my work. I get to see clients walk in full of pain and walk out pain free. To facilitate a change in mood and lifestyle, is perhaps more rewarding and often a more surprising effect than that of the physical help acupuncture brings. Acupuncture assists circulation and allows muscles to heal. It moves emotions and helps them to be expressed. It triggers change. Assist change, book acupuncture. To feel good this summer:

Ÿ Take advantage of the long days. Wake up early and go to bed late. If you do this then be sure to take a nap at lunchtime and this will give you a good state of mind. Ÿ Eat cooling foods to temper the heat. Many green foods are cooling in nature. Avoid over eating, heavy, greasy food. Ÿ Avoid anger as this can make heat related ailments like headaches or skin problems flare up in the summer. With anger you always have a choice. Ÿ And of course drink lots of water. If you do get dehydrated then try watermelon juice and seeds as this rehydrates and cleanses the system. Ÿ Come for a seasonal acupuncture check-up and skip in time with summer.

| The Advertiser | page 12 |

At the time of writing, the Summer Solstice is almost upon us, marking the longest day of the year and the ‘official’ beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Summer draws my mind to warm evenings sat by the Thames or in the garden eating gloriously ripe, sweet summer fruits whilst sipping something decadently … (yes, you guessed…) SPARKLING! How could you not? However my perfect world of sparkling wines has been somewhat shattered of late with very distressing rumours in the press and wine trade, about a Prosecco shortage! Arrrhhh!! How could this be? First thought: panic. Second thought: panic some more. Third thought: get on the phone and order up as much Prosecco as possible to stash away (as a squirrel does prior to hibernation, but twice, no three times as frantic!) Fourth thought: How am I going to pay for this stash and explain to the kids that it’s baked beans again as their Mum has bought a lake sized stash of Prosecco? Fifth (and most rational) thought: Are these rumours indeed correct? So this is where we are my friends, upon further investigation I am pleased to announce to you all that the Prosecco DOC Consortium (the institution in charge of protecting and upholding and protecting the standard of Prosecco DOC) has retorted such claims indicating that there will not be a shortage in the coming months. (Deep breathe…. ahhhh). Rumours were sparked by weather conditions that reduced the yields in the 2014 harvest. The Consortium added that despite having lower yields, certified production on the whole was up 17.9% on last year’s harvest. They also ‘ruled out any significant price increase during the summer.’ Demand for this Italian sparkling wine has increased significantly in the UK; a recent report by Wine Intelligence found that sales of Prosecco rose 55% in the UK last year. Suppliers have pointed out that supermarkets have fuelled this increase with promotional offers. This alleged ‘shortage’ has harvested some brilliant alternatives to Prosecco. Here’s one for you to try: Cintila Extra Dry NV Peninsula de Setúbal, Portugal Available from Den Boer Wines £8.99 Produced in a co-operative on the Setúbal Peninsula, south of Lisbon, this sparkling wine is comprised of the indigenous Portuguese grape varieties of Castelão (70%) and Fernão (30%) Buttery, cereal-like aromas lead on to a rich and creamy fore-palate. The crisp acidity of this sparkler strikes through, leaving the palate clean and refreshed with subtle citrus flavours. A great match with a variety of foods; sushi, seafood and ripe strawberries. Meanwhile, as the sun continues to shine, I continue to discover the endless delights of Prosecco and baked beans! Jolly Ramblings!

| The Advertiser | page 13 |

Welcome to this July edition of ramblings near and far. The weather has been quite interesting for us all, my now part-naked sheep included. We waited to shear until this warmer spell arrived so we wouldn’t need to use their fleeces for hand-knitted scarves. I am pleased to say that our mixed rare breed Welsh sheep are thriving. Farming has been well-represented on TV lately, BBC Wales has two series on local and sustainable farming, including the links between farm and table and a well-known local farmer and Soil Association president, Helen Browning (The Royal Oak in Bishopstone) talking about GM crops on BBC Panorama. In May 1865 setting sail from Liverpool and taking a very long distance view of farming and the Welsh language were a group of 160 Welsh-speakers of all different trades, travelling thousands of miles down to Argentina and Patagonia , with the vessel “Mimosa”and arriving on the 28th July 1865, 150 years ago. After really severe hardship, illness and little food, these settlers created the most robust irrigation system from the local river, started to thrive and several towns were established, linked by a railway system. Many books have been written or touched on these settlers, who are loyal to Argentina but have deep roots into Welsh culture, customs and language. Part of their tradition were the first chapel teas these were held in the many chapels that celebrated their enduring religious convictions but, with true enterprise, the first commercial tea house invited a visit by our late Diana, Princess of Wales. All her tea service is now kept on display. With Huw Edwards presenting Patagonia on BBC Wales, that tea and cakes looked sumptuous! And weight-gaining! There is a growing call for declaring the calorific content of all pet treats now. For example, a Labrador Retriever is expected to only need 1095 calories a day for a normal, average walking, family lifestyle. Every single treat will add unwanted weight unless these treats are PART of the diet, not an addition. This will include dental bars, at least one of which DOES say that it will represent 20% of that size dog’s daily diet. So 20% is to be removed! Dental problems do often include infections; there is a BIG debate currently, ongoing for several years, about the use of antibiotics in medical and veterinary treatments. Their use is essential for the health and welfare of my small animal patients. So by reducing the need and dosing correctly, we can all help this issue. One factor that has to be addressed is that a course is a course, to the end and at the prescribed frequency; partial dosing can lead to antibiotic resistance. Obviously, when viral infections are present, it is correct not to prescribe any antibiotics unless significant secondary bacterial infection occurs. A recent survey has found that more than a quarter of all dogs seen by the UK veterinary profession needed to receive antibiotics of some form, in most cases for abscesses, wounds and skin infections generally. Alternatives in human medicine include the self-helps like Manuka honey and other bee and herbal products. Complementary medicine always has its detractors and followers; I am happy to say that I am a follower. I also point clients towards physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, chiropractic and acupuncture, to name a few. Electro-physiotherapy includes our Class 4 Laser unit. Very recent studies have shown that Class 4 Laser treatment will, with wounds infected by antibiotic-resistant bacteria, give very positive and consistent results regarding wound healing and resolution. Needless to say, we too offer post-surgical laser treatment and are likely to use our laser unit even more as a result of these findings.

Patsy Jones is showing her paintings at the Portwell Angel Faringdon in July. Her main inspiration is the vale and downs, in the Vale of the White Horse, which she explores in oils. She is also exploring print making, enjoying the contrast approach methods and textures of ink on the paper. She was brought up in Wantage, lives and worked there. Come along and enjoy her art.

Retro Cinema & Dining at The Woodman Driving over to The Woodman I had no idea of what to expect. It was a bit of a rush for me as it was my delivery day so I’d spent the last three hours distributing Advertiser magazines and boxes full of them, but thankfully I was no more than 5 minutes late. It was a relief to get there and be shown through to our table with a bottle of red wine to relax. The Cinema is beautifully laid out in the banquet hall with all the tables positioned so you’re facing the screen, a very comfortable and cosy start to the evening. David Bryant, The Woodman's Manager, took to the front of the room to explain to us how the evening was planned, when the first course would be served and that there would be a pause in the movie for the main course and dessert. It reminded me of the anticipation of sitting down with all the family and bringing out the old slide photographs to watch on the wall from our parents projector. What a bit of fun! With everyone settled to watch Roman Holiday, starring Gregory Peck and the lovely Audrey Hepburn, the lights were dimmed slightly and our starters served. Wow what a mouth watering Italian-style antipasti platter each table received, olives, pastrami, mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes with ciabatta bread and butter on the side. Now we were totally in the mood for the Italian based film. Once the starters were finished the lights were turned off and Roman Holiday started, a classic immortal romantic comedy that is nothing but a pleasure to watch. The screen David has installed is a massive 3.5 meters, High Definition with Dolby Surround Sound, fantastic! I do believe the horror movies for example “JAWS” truly have you jumping off your seat. I know I would be under mine as I’m not good with scary movies but would most definitely put myself through it, what an evening! We came to a point in the movie where a pause was made, perfect timing David, and with that our pre ordered main course was served. This choice was made on booking the table, it’s the only course that needs to be pre ordered as the starter and dessert are set for the evening. We had both chosen the chicken dish, this was chargrilled chicken with vegetable skewers served on a bed of mixed rice, very tasty and just enough. The other choice for that evening was Tuna Steak, which looked delicious. There was also the chance to refill your glass or take a bathroom break. Once David had seen every one was ready the show carried on, until a part in the movie where Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn stopped for ice cream, so we did too and were all served three flavours of homemade ice cream plus a small shot of liqueur. We then finished the movie. David and his lovely fiancée Bianca have brought us a really pleasantly different night out and I would really recommend you give it a go. It was truly unique and inexpensive. I’m totally hooked, it was a brilliant night out and I’m looking forward to the next one! Go on,Try it!

Tips for a Fun Healthy Summer

Summer is a great time to get healthy on all levels, but it is important not to overdo it. By following these simple tips, you can enjoy the best that summer has to offer. Stay Hydrated In extreme summer heat, one can quickly become dehydrated and at risk of heat stroke. The key is to drink water before heading outside. The mistake is usually made when people wait until after they’re thirsty to begin hydrating and by this time it’s already too late. A great way to add some flavour and variety to water is to add fresh fruit and let it sit for a minimum of 30 minutes (you’ll be amazed at how much natural flavour the water will take on). Get Plenty of Vitamin D Our skin makes vitamin D when exposed to direct sunlight (which is free!!), and is important for boosting the immune system, promoting healthy bones and teeth, preventing cancer, fighting depression, helping brain development (especially in pregnancy and infancy), stopping inflammation and more. 15-20 minutes a day during the strongest rays (10 am to 2 pm) with the most skin exposed will generally provide individuals with their optimal daily dose. But this needs to be done without sunscreen! Sunscreen will block the reaction between our skin and the sun and prevent the production of Vitamin D in our body why not try Coconut Oil - Coconut oil blocks about 20% of the sun’s rays meaning you can enjoy the sun 20% longer than normally without getting burned. You are more likely to tan and keep your tan with coconut oil in shorter, half hour or so bursts. It also moisturizes skin, lessens inflammation, and smooth's out blemishes while it limits solar damage. Eat Fresh, Local Produce With an abundance of fresh produce available in our area, eating fresh produce is the healthiest thing you can do for your body. Many dark coloured veggies (Carotenoids) also contain compounds that decrease inflammation and naturally protect your skin from sunburn. Did you know Carotenoids actually give your skin a healthy bronze glow even without sunlight while making sure you burn less often?! Relax After playing in the sun or working hard in the office, be sure to give yourself a break. Whether you have sore muscles or anxiety, take time to relax. Chronic stress is one of the worst things for your health, impacting every part of your body. Take a long bath, read a book, or treat yourself to a therapeutic massage. Since we tend to be more active and physical in the summer, our muscles and joints often pay the price. Instead of running to the medicine cabinet for some over the counter pain relief, try something that will actually fix the problem, promote healing and prevent future injuries. Chiropractic is a great way to realign the spine and extremities, balance the nervous system, relax muscles, and promote healing. Instead of simply covering up pain symptoms with drugs, Chiropractic adjustments fix the cause of the pain, and in turn, makes your body even stronger and healthier. Together, chiropractic and massage can keep your physical body going strong throughout all of your summertime activities. If you would like to learn more about total body wellness, talk to Sue at Freedom Chiropractic. Specialising in helping patients achieve optimal health with chiropractic care, medical massage therapy, nutritional counselling, and corrective exercise.

Trainer Tips!

Is Pain Helpful? Pain is a normal human sensation. It can be an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience and is associated with actual or potential tissue damage. It motivates us to withdraw from damaging situations and it’s there to protect our damaged body while it heals. It acts as a reminder to avoid similar experiences in the future. Most pain goes away once the painful stimulus is removed and the body has healed, although pain can persist even when the stimulus has been removed and the body is well again. Persistent pain can be due to the sensitive nervous system and how our brain is processing information from our body and environment. Nerves sense change in temperature, stress, blood flow, movement and many other events in our bodies. Our network of nerves acts as an alarm system, monitoring our body and feeding back information to the brain. A normal response to pain is an increase in nerve sensitivity which protects you. The process constantly sends electrical signals to alert your brain to any danger in the area of your body. In some people the alarm is not actually switched off properly and heightened sensitivity of the nerves remains leading to long-term pain. The heightened sensitivity can also cause nerves around old injuries to be agitated leading to pain in different areas of the body other than the initial problem area. Complex processes in the brain are set up when pain is felt and, with everybody experiencing pain in their own way, it can make it hard to treat. Sometimes we do not even have to have an injury for us to feel pain. With many stressors affecting the body the brain can perceive a threat and produce pain without an actual injury. When under stress, your body raises adrenaline levels which stimulates large muscles, slows down digestion and affects breathing. These are usually short-term effects however, with continuous stressing, a prolonged protective response can lead to tender and sensitive areas, and changes in mood and appetite (and possible weight gain) and leave you feeling fatigued and depressed. So how do we deal with pain? Ÿ 1. Pain is complex. You need to find out the root cause of it. This alone can have a calming effect on your oversensitive nerves. Ÿ 2. Exercise (where appropriate). Increased blood flow can calm nerves. A brisk walk perhaps - start steady and build up as you feel fitter and more able, but pace yourself and listen to your body. Get professional advice before embarking on a new regime. Ÿ 3. Medicine. Obviously there are many medicines that help with pain and your best advice will be from a trained medical practitioner. Ÿ 4. Carbohydrates contain Tryptophan which can calm the brain. Be careful that eating lots of these doesn’t put an extra stress on the body! Ÿ 5. Sleep better. Sleep habits are important for recovery and reduction on pain – remember cats always sleep a lot when in pain or are trying to heal themselves! Pain is there for a reason but living with prolonged pain is not good. Look at ways you can start to make changes to reduce your pain today. Get advice from professionals in your area and do some of your own research too. Move, Feel and Live ....better.

DVLA changes to the Driving Licence | The Counterpart Advertiser | page 26 | Did you know that since the 8th June the paper counterpart to the photocard driving licence has been invalid and has no legal status. The DVLA has stopped issuing paper counterparts and is advising drivers to destroy existing copies. So what, you may ask, is going to happen to all the information on the paper counterpart? The information currently on your paper counterpart will be available to view through an online service on the DVLA Website called Share Driving Licence - www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence On this platform you will be able to view your driving record and share it with those companies who need to see it and other third parties quickly and easily. This change is good news for those who keep losing or damaging the paper counterparts and will also mean that when a copy is required from the DVLA there won’t be any delays. The new online service is easy to use and is accessible 'on-the-go' from a smartphone or tablet. Using this new service you should be able to obtain a copy of your licence information in less than a minute that you can then share with third parties. What will you need to do to download a copy of your licence information for your own information and sharing with third parties? Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ

You will need your driving licence number, NI number and postcode to hand You will then need to access the Share Driving Licence tool www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence on the DVLA website. Follow the instructions to download a pdf copy of your licence information If you need to share the information with a third party you can send the pdf you have downloaded along with a copy of the photocard licence. Ÿ Alternatively you can use the Share Driving Licence tool to generate a licence check code which you can then send, along with your driving licence number, to the third party. Ÿ Customers without internet access can get a licence check code by phoning the DVLA, who will supply them with a case sensitive code that will be valid for 72 hours after creation and can only be used once. The online service is free to use and there are no pre-registration requirements. Why not try out the new service, simply go to:

Cyber Liability Cyber Liability is becoming an ever increasing threat; not only to the mega-companies and Government institutions but to any business (or individual) that might hold personal or confidential information. The fines that are levied against businesses accused of not properly securing data through adequate firewalls, systems and protocols are becoming increasingly significant. In reality the fines are painful – but the subsequent loss of business, the potential financial implications, and the time spent will simply close a lot of businesses. BGi.uk have been looking into arranging insurance against such risks. The insurance cover available is currently limited and the available insurers few and far between. If you have ever had any experience of cyber attack – or if your internal Risk Management discussions have highlighted any areas of concern, we would very much like to talk with you about your experiences and/or those concerns.
