And dare I even say that the weather is starting to warm up? That means only one thing - Spring and Summer are on their way! Spring also means lots of bank holidays and school breaks so if you are panicking about keeping little people happy and busy then check out the Lots on Local section for a plethora of events and activities in and around the local area. Nottinghamshire County Show is back on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May and is always a huge hit with families with so much to see and do there. We’ve teamed up with them to offer one lucky reader a family ticket to the show! If you are thinking of heading to the coast then head over to Skegness then make sure you take a ride on The Seasiders who are back from Easter right through to October with their colourful seafront open top bus rides. The First Agricultural Show of the Year! Nottinghamshire County Show is back for 2017 with attractions galore for all the family! Plan a great day out for the whole family with lots to do for all age groups from tiny tots to big kids at the all-weather Nottinghamshire County Show. At this first agricultural show of the year there will be hundreds of animals, from all over the country, featuring the best cattle, sheep, goats and pigs, alongside superb equine events, including national level show-jumping and the ever-popular majestic Heavy Horses. When the animals are not showing, families will be able to meet their favourite farmyard characters in their holding areas where the handlers will be only too happy to answer questions about animal husbandry. In the Countryside Area there will be a full timetable on both Saturday & Sunday including informative and amusing gun-dog and birds of prey demonstrations whilst Broke FMX will be performing spectacular stunts twice daily in the Main Ring. The show offers a jam-packed day out with lots to see and do and this year there will be a fabulous collection of big, bright, shiny new machinery, including tractors, with more than 30 agricultural machinery stands to visit. Show Manager, George Taylor, said: “We are delighted at the return of the Music Marquee, located near the Main Ring, which will feature a plethora of musicians. Families can take a seat and listen to the likes of the Hope Community Gospel Choir, a jazz quintet, and the Nottingham Police Band, to name but a few”. All ages will have fun at the Inspire Shows watching co-ordinated free running routines in the George Stevenson Exhibition Hall with runners flipping 4
and leaping through the air – skilfully negotiating any obstacle in their path demonstrating tremendous agility, body power and strength. When it’s time for a bite to eat, take advantage of the ample refreshment outlets serving light snacks and hot drinks as well as hot lunches with wine. Or why not become a Member and enjoy free entry to the Show on both days, along with VIP parking, Members Only facilities, and complimentary morning coffee with biscuits and afternoon tea with scones. New Party Themes & Magical Storytelling! Join Super Sparkle Parties and take an enchanting journey into a magical fairy tale! Once upon a time there lived a dragon, who took a stroll through a wood, met a unicorn, flew over the rainbow and whooshed in a rocket to the moon! Super Sparkle Parties is a Nottingham based party and event company run by Monika Johnson, offering magical children’s entertainment across the Midlands... and they are making some changes! Monika has offered characters and themes for children’s parties, storytelling and events in the Midlands since 2013 and this year she is adapting their parties slightly with new ideas, characters and party adventures for your little party guests! ‘We ran a storytelling performance of Red Riding Hood at Lark in the Park in August
