Take advantage of this rare opportunity to photograph and hike through the naturalized Abbondi property that is normally inaccessible to the public. Conservatory Road separates Abbondi from the public areas of the Gardens. You’ll find beautiful mature trees, ponds with wildlife, and meadows. We will begin the day at the APGA house (located at the entrance to Abbondi property) with an introduction to the unique landscape and autumn photography. Bring a backpack-style camera bag, tripod, and lenses ranging from wide angle to 200mm, a circular polarizing filter, sunscreen, and a cell phone. Dress in layers for an indoor/outdoor learning experience and wear waterproof/water-resistant boots for walking on unpaved trails.
Here’s a special chance to have our outdoor Christmas light display lit just for you! A short, illustrated lecture focusing on nighttime challenges of photography starts your evening. Most of the class time is reserved for shooting in the Gardens to capture the Christmas outdoor light display. We’ll use online support for discussions and critiques after your evening in the Gardens.. Online Learning Extend your learning beyond the classroom with supplemental materials Please bring your own digital camera, lenses, charged batteries, and tripod (recommended). All students must be familiar with their own photographic equipment. This class will not emphasize individual camera technicalities, nor will the instructor necessarily understand the operations of all camera brands. Except for a brief introduction, the class will be held entirely outside in the Gardens. Please dress for the weather.
