Valery Gergiev, LSO Principal Conductor The beginning of my own journey through Szymanowski’s music started when I was asked to conduct his opera, King Roger, and it’s become one of my most intriguing and exciting projects. Szymanowski not only deserves to be widely heard and recognised, but his music also gives us a tremendous opportunity to understand better the developments of classical music throughout the 20th century. I really look forward to performing it with the LSO, both here at the Barbican and across many different concert halls on tour.
