The payoff is spectacular, twisting angry noise into beautiful melody, anthemic but uncontrived. Most important, though, is the nod to the culturally barren landscapes from which they grew, a voice for every lost teen or twenty-something thrusting their face into a pillow, unsure whether to cry or to scream. These are songs of pain, fury and yet, ultimately, hope. Catharsis this powerful saves lives. Not that you’d know it from speaking to them, of course, for at their core

Gnarwolves are just slacker skaters, self-professed “fucking idiots” here to have a good time. They get up, drive their van, play some songs, drink some beer, crash on a sofa and then do it all over again. Not for money or fame but because it’s all they know. Punk’s not dead, man. Punk’s not dead. Gnarwolves release their self-titled debut album September 15th via Big Scary Monsters To read the full interview, visit londoninstereo.com
