OF PROGRESS

To Dr. Hugh B. Logan belongs the honor of having demonstrated the importance of the mechanical factors of the human spine and their part in producing curvature and balance of the spinal column. Years of study, research, and experience enabled Dr. Logan to devise Basic Technique to correct disease and pain-producing curvatures. The Logan Basic College of Chiropractic, founded to give students a thorough Chiropractic education, as well as to train them in Dr. Logan's discoveries, stands today as an enduring memorial to his wisdom ... a living monument to his ideals and service in the cause of human health.

HUGH B. LOGAN Founder

Dr. Vinton F. Logan assumed the presidency of Logan College in 1944. He has ever striven to maintain the high scholastic standards established by his father, and has also devoted himself to the unification and advancement of the Chiropractic profession ... winning a national reputation through his extensive speaking tours. Known for his sincere, personal interest in every student, Dr. Logan's chief aim is to see that every graduate of the college will be a credit both to his profession and to his school.

VINTON F. LOGAN President

In accordance with the original plan of Dr. Hugh B. Logan, the curriculum of Logan College is designed to provide all students with the well-rounded scientific background and highly specialized knowledge of Chiropractic technique which will enable them to take their place among the foremost members of the profession. Furthermore, the student receives additional benefits which a college like Logan can offer .. . periodical physical examinations and Chiropractic adjustments to keep him always at his best.

The logic and harmony of the Logan curriculum become increasingly evident to the student as the semesters of study pass by. Steadily his knowledge of scientific fact increases under the careful guidance of his instructors. As a senior, he spends hour after hour with patients in the school clinic, gaining all of the experience, confidence, and skill required for a successful independent practice.

Seventeen acres of rolling countryside, the beauty of spacious lawns, rich groves of verdant shrubbery, and towering oaks that spread shade and serenity throughout the grounds . . . the campus of Logan College. The Logan campus, located in one of the more prosperous residential suburbs of St. Louis, offers all of the seclusion and space conducive to scholastic achievement.

Pride of the campus is the new Hugh B. Logan Memorial Clinic, a triumph of modern architectural design, superlatively equipped to provide students with every opportunity to master the practical application of

Chiropractic principles.

A bright, modern cafeteria occupies

the north wing of this building, where simple but satisfying meals are prepared under the supervision of a trained dietician. To many students, however, the symbol of the Logan ca mpus is "Old Main", the dignified, white frame mansion in which the college began, and which still houses the library, some classrooms, and a men's dormitory. In many ways this building seems to typify the friendly, sincere and generous spirit which has always been associated with the college.

The student who enters Logan discovers that a wide variety of social activities will be at his disposal. The school recognizes his need for wholesome recreation to keep him at his best mentally .. . Freshman Week at Logan is not a period of rough "hazing" as at some schools. Instead, it is devoted to good.natured fun, designed to help adjust the new student to campus life and promote good fellowship.

JeiJuJ-e Students with a taste for sports can join the basketball and softball teams which the college sponsors in the St. Louis Municipal League, or participate in the fun of intramural sports. Those who relish music will receive a warm reception from the Logan Chorus. There's never a lack of good times to be discussed when students pause for refreshment in the canteen between classes.

Many dances are given throughout the school year ... the Freshman Get-Acquainted Dance, the Sweetheart Dance, the Junior Prom, the allschool dance on the river excursion boat, S. S. Admiral . .. monthly square dances too!

A majority of Logan students defray a portion of the cost of their education through part-time jobs. Student employment is encouraged to the utmost by the administration, which has long recognized the value of such work to the student. Many forms of profitable employment may be found on the campus itself, such as landscape gardening, building maintenance, or office work. Considering the many vocational opportunities offered by residential and commercial districts in the vicinity of the school, no Logan student need be denied the right to assist himself through college.

...... Logan College believes the moral development of its students to be just as important as their intellectual and social development. The school endeavors to stimulate their growth into men of integrity, well fitted for the responsibilities of life. Ever a friend to students is the Rev. Herman G. Heuser, student counselor. He offers friendly assistance to students confronted with personal problems. Character building is also stressed by campus organizations, such as the Toastmasters' Club, devoted to training poised and confident speakers, and the American Legion Post, dedicated to supporting the enduring principles of democracy.
