Slow Cooker Bread Pudding Is Holiday Comfort Food

You prepare all the necessary dishes in the morning and plan your breakfast, lunch and dinner by placing the same in the oven, slow cooker and other devices. Risotto rice is another kind of rice that cooks well in the slow cooker and quick-cooking risotto rice is the best variety. You can make a gorgeous, creamy risotto in your slow cooker in about an hour. Other crockpot recipes with rice include jambalaya and rice pudding. You can add cooked rice to any slow cooker chicken stroganoff in the final stages of cooking and it is especially good to bulk up a soup or stew dish. Sometimes a recipe calls us to purchase just too many ingredients. We don't make it because we calculate that the cost per servicing is too expensive. Sometimes we can get the flavor we want by using substitutes for items we don't want to buy. There are many commercial substitutes already...such as IMO for sour cream, and margarine for butter. I use IMO both in dip and when I make beef stroganoff. I almost always use margarine. Slowly pour the cold water into the flour blending well; stir into the vegetable mixture. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Place the meat on a serving platter. Spoon some of the gravy over the meat. Pass the remaining gravy, if others want more. Serves 6 to 8 people.
