and the Fearless

What happenes in volume 1: We are in the times of the Vikings. A small tribe under the chief Heinar Hookepee is on a raid, they call themselves "The Fearless". They seem to be a group of bold men who are heading for a coastline at the beginning. When the lookout announces a village in sight, they all impatiently show themselves ready to attack. Standing in front of the entrance, however, a certain hesitancy sets in - our Vikings are nowhere near as fearless and brave as they always pretend to be. On the contrary, they are rather cowardly, completely and utterly de-spondent, sometimes fearful, beautiful-minded or far too sensitive to do their people any credit. One thing is certain: this is no way to get to Valhalla. While it is first widely discussed who exactly should/must lead the attack, a little girl stands up to them - our heroine Freya. She is fed up with Vikings attacking her village all the time, that would have happened just the day before, that's why she is the only one still there, all the others have moved inland. Freya angrily scolds Hookepee and his men, who then flee in total intimidation.

FREYA AND THE FEARLESS 01 – Off to Battle! b/w illustration throughout (90%) 160 pages, no. 1076, 8+ February 2022

Meanwhile, up in Asgard, the Odin family is sitting in front of an ancient television set, eating whale nuts and drinking mead, watching the drama from above. That can't be true! Does the intrepid Freya have to come to show Heinar's men how to become fearless? But that's no way to get to Valhalla!

What happenes in Volume 02: The sea is getting narrower and narrower, land is in sight to the right and left. This must be England. Finally, our brave Vikings can once again plunder, rob and pillage to their heart's content. Heinar and his men sail leisurely up the Thames. A doohickey blocks their way. Unfortunately, the British king's architects built the new bridge much too low. Now no ship can get out or back in and the English have to do without their beloved hot drink: tea. We learn how Freya and the Fearless Ones bring the British back their tea, turn Tower Bridge into a suspension bascule bridge, and incidentally invent the bearskin cap. And of course, Odin and his family are watching…
