Nutley Rotary Club makes donation to historic house

At right, the Nutley Rotary Club recently presented the Van Riper House with a donation of $4,500. The money was raised at the Nutley Rotary Club’s 5th Annual Car and Motorcycle Show. The Van Riper House was the home of John Abraham Van Riper, who served as a private in the Essex County militia during the Revolutionary War. The historic home owned by the township is considered one of the finest houses of its type in the lower Passaic River valley area. The house is the last Passaic River colonial manor home in Nutley, according to the state. The donation will help in the ongoing capital campaign for restoration of the house.
