THE OBJECTIVE: To provide a transportation service to link Apollo Bay and its surrounding attractions. To encourage people to park their cars in a secure carpark for the duration of their stay. Increasing the amount of people using the bus service. Partners vary from Dept Transport, Dept of Planning and Community Development (Regional Victoria), Dept of Sustainable Environment, Otway Shire Council, Tourism Victoria. Primary stakeholders vary from RACV, V/line, Parks Victoria and VicRoads. While secondary stakeholders vary from Landcare groups, local businesses. Beneficiaries are those who will benifit from the use of this service such as the elderly, community health care service customers, locals and tourists. THE ON DEMAND SERVICE: As the aim of this service was to link Apollo Bay, The Great Ocean Road, Attractions and The Great Ocean Walk, an on demand service has been created. This on demand service is used only when a person using the Great Ocean Walk requires goods to be delivered or they need to be picked up. The four on demand bus stops are the major points of interests for walkers and campsites. This service can be organised through the Information Centre, Lighthouse or with the driver via mobile phone. prior to the commencement of the walk or after.
