ix Mile Ranch Ltd. is a family owned and operated cattle ranch located in the rolling hills near Fir Mountain, Saskatchewan, along the Montana border. We have been using Red Angus genetics since 1967 and expanded to include a herd of Black Angus cows in 2005. The ranch was founded with the motto that still holds true today –
“Producing sound, maternal cattle that are born easy, with the will to live, the ability to grow and the quality to sell.” The ranch currently runs around 450 purebred Red Angus Females, 100 purebred Black Angus Females and a commercial cow/calf operation. We currently operate on over 11,500 acres of land and are committed to agriculture. Here at Six Mile, our program has always been, and will always be, focused on producing the best females we can. Our attention is on conformation, structure, and performance in our herd. We demand that our mother cows be easy keeping, fertile and sound uddered with the capacity and natural muscling to do well in range conditions. We spare no expense to bring the best genetic sires into our highly-maternal herd, and concentrate on producing herd bulls that represent the type of breed-leading genetics needed in today’s cattle industry. He is a definite herd bull with big time hip shape, dimension and width. A half interest in Tuff Enuf sold in our bull sale for $30,000 to EKW Red Angus, SK and Glengary Ranch, AB. His sire, Rawhide 222X, is a bull we kept to use on heifers and for his maternal merit. RED MRLA NEW ER New Era is the 2013 U.S. Reserve Grand Champion Bull. He is uniquely bred being a grandson of the popular and proven Black sire, SAV Net Worth 4200. New Era was poised to defend his National title this fall, but met with an untimely death in the summer. The good news is his progeny are simply outstanding and will ensure his true breeding potential is realized. His son, Red Six Mile & Co Jagger 780A has already won numerous accolades in the show ring and has garnered the appreciation of many astute cattlemen. Here is the newest addition to our bull battery and he is a bull that will turn a few heads. Eliminator 100Z is a black /red gene carrier bull. He is sired by the $96,000 black Bull, SAV Eliminator 9105 and is out of one of the top Predominant daughters in the Peak Dot Black Angus herd. This thick, deep sided bull is unique in pedigree and phenotype and will be a definite breeding tool in our Red Angus program. He is the first Black/ Red Carrier bull that we have ever seen with a predominantly red head and so much red coloring throughout his hair coat.
